The cake..

How dare I question a coach with a .474 career winning percentage! He's obviously beyond reproach.

Well you do have that basketball book and 884 posts on here... Have you sent your resume in yet?

So your "excuse" for us losing is the coach. But anyone else has an excuse and it's not ok?

My only beef is personal attacks on posters for questioning Nate. That's out of line IMHO.

I would but the Blazers only hire mediocre ex-guards like Cheeks and Nate to coach this team.

I fully expect to see Dontonio Wingfield hired as Nate's replacement in 2011.

I never attacked you, I disagreed with your opinion. I would have disagreed with the facts, but since you never used any, all I could go off of was your opinion.

I'm sorry if you took it as an attack on the person you are. I'm sure you are a fine citizen and an outstanding employee at your place of employment.

Yeah, Dontonio Wingfield has very similar careers to Mo and Nate, right? Sorry, that was a joke, my bad...

Doc Rivers....

You're clueless. You can't even stick to your original premis. Now it's about Blazers hiring practice including hires under different presidents and GM's?

Uh OK...

Don't give away that yellow ribbon too quickly sunshine... It might be the last one you ever get.

Well these posts our Fez's MO. He makes em, and leaves em, just as quick.

stir the pot fez.

rudy is at his best when he's used in a role where he is allowed to create, not when he basically is just asked to run around and mostly do nothing.

blake is a starting caliber pg. he's a below average starter, but hey, there have to be 15 below average starting pgs starting in the nba. he is one of them. he would be best utilized as a backup. i still have faith that bayless would be the answer if allowed to be, but thus far the blazers haven't appeared interested in that.

joel isn't the longterm starter. batum probably isn't the longterm starter unless he has offensive improvement. blake isn't a scorer but he spaces the floor as a shooter. none of those things make a cake taste like shit.

outlaw shouldn't be the 3rd option. roy, aldridge, oden, and rudy should all be ahead of him.

A lot of waht you say is true, but a major blooper:

Impossible. But a common booboo. You are mixing up mean and average. The mean is the midway point, half are above, half below. The average is different entirely. There are 30 starting point guards in the NBA. You can select a mean, at which half are above and half below. But if you are saying "average", some will be above, some below, some average. If Blake is a below average pg, he is worse than most of the starting point guards in the NBA and I don't really think that's true.

This cake is missing ingredients...if you want to go for hyperbole...

a starting caliber PG

1-2 key veteran players

a back-up banger at PF

Actually, mean and average are the same thing. What you are describing is the median. It doesn't hurt your argument,
just to let you know.

I am of two minds on this....

1) We didn't use our most valuable resource - RLEC and while it didn't seem to hurt us in the season, it's hurting us here, IMHO.
It will also hurt us next season.

2) We lost by ONE freaking point - ONE. If we score one more basket, posters would be talking about how awesome our
cake is. National media would bring up that Houston has lost many times in the first round, blah blah blah. I don't think we
can really base our long or short term strategy on a one point game loss - especially when one certain official goes our of his
way to put our bigs out of the game using phantom calls.

GREAT post. Excellent.

wreppt!

Yup, I stand (sit) corrected.

Knew I hadn't had caffeine yet.

Shall we call it a draw?

Shaq says we don't need anything so I'll take his word for it. Just a couple more years of growing and developing together and we'll be real contenders. Fuck elite PG's and bruising veteran SF/PF's. Let's win it with our boys.

A fanbase that is full of hyperbolic over reactionists who jump off of buildings after every loss?

Priceless!

Oh wait, you weren't doing a mastercard ad spoof?

:drumroll:

Yeah let's be mediocre and soft. Lovely. :biglaugh::crazy:

oh, sorry. It makes sense when I go back and read it now that that was what you meant.

Wins > Style

Playoff basketball takes a different style to win than the regular season, love it, hate it or call it unfair that's just the way it is. Steve Blake's game is not built for playoff style basketball.

Mediocre? Steve Blake is an average starter, yes. Batum is sometimes an offensive liability, too. But when a cake is getting baked, it usually gets bigger and fluffier. As in, Batum is going to get better. Martell will be back. Sergio is starting to get good with his shooting touch. Bayless' potential is still up in the air. PG and SF are our only real questions for the future, but we have young guys that are capable of developing into the guys we need. But hell, let's TRADE them away so we can have a guy that can play right now. Who wants to wait? Let's win a championship right now with a team with the lowest amount of playoff experience.

Sorry, if I don't think having an all-star at every position is realistic, nor what we actually need.

Nate will get better. Roy will get better. Aldridge will get better. Oden will get 5x better. We're a 65 win team in two years without trades.

Tastes like shit.

Does KP realize we don't have a starting caliber PG?

We have three non-scorers in the starting line-up. We are running Roy ragged.

Our 3rd option on offense (Travis) has the IQ of a fence post.

Why is McMillan trying to turn Rudy into James Jones - "sit in the corner and stay there!"

Then don't eat it. Go find a different cake.

I like the way our cake is tasting. Still has a little bitterness, but overall very sweet.
