Is Kelly ready to leave Oregon?

Kelly, after nearly bolting for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers head-coaching job in January, ducked the issue when he was asked last week. But it's a question that, like these persistent rain clouds, will continue to hover over the Oregon football program, and one that could influence the future of a number of UO coaches and players.

And recruits, too.

Oregon coaches are on the road this week trying to improve a recruiting class ranked as low as 69th in the country by one of the major recruiting services. Oregon has just 10 high school recruits committed for the class of 2013; among Pac-12 schools, only Stanford, with nine, has fewer.

Well, that's the Oregonian's opinion.

is this your :spam: thread after the big Beaver victory?

of course teams are going to negatively recruit against their rivals using whatever kitchen sink they can grab. But going on average rating per recruit, rivals currently has Oregon with the 10th rated class, and typically they've done much of their recruiting late in the cycle under CK. There are a lot of big fish claiming to be planning visits...

Without having read the latest :MARIS61:, color me unconcerned about the O's recent bitter Beaver offering

stanford and oregon, the pac12s two best programs, have the least commits, because once the season is over, they can point to bcs bowl WINS as reasons to enroll, not a loss in the beef o' brady bowl

That's great an all but we need defensive help in buckets not to mention a few O lineman and great ones aren't in abundance! I'd like to think we could do a bit better than a top 60 class!! Being #5 and all and finishing in the top 10 for the last 4 years!

Well, we seem to be doing pretty darn well with what we do have. We also seem to coach up the players pretty well also. It's early. I'm not concerned.

We need LB's badley BP! Not to mention impact DT's and O lineman! I don't see with what we have right now how we're gonna rule the roost for the next few years?

I know, I know. And I'm sure Kelly knows as well. But good ones don't grow on trees.

I heard the strangest rumor in the barber's chair yesterday. I go to Country Square in Lake Oswego. They get a lot of so-called high-end and/or well-connected folks in there.

Anyhoo, they were saying that someone from the Portland District Attorney's office told them that the talk around the office water cooler is that, for whatever the reason why, one of the reasons Chip is shying away from the pro game is because he's gay.

I don't believe it for a minute and, quite frankly, was a bit stunned that the mention of it even came up.

And everyone knows there are no gays in the NFL...

In a recent article I read they mentioned Chip had a girl friend.

Basically, what I said, too. His response was that, as there are a lot of macho, Black men in the NFL, a gay coach wouldn't garner respect. Apparently, gay players are becoming more accepted, but ixnay on the coaching front. Who knows, who cares? i don't. Just thought it was funny that they trotted this garbage out. :dunno: But, hey....it's a barber shop afterall. ;)

The good news is if anyone types Chip Kelly gay into google this site will pop up!

Should attract a lot of Washington Husky fans.

Yeah, I read that he has a girlfriend too......but she has a penis.

A shemale? For Chip? Someone needs to tell Canzano.

That would be awesome if her/his name were Dale. ;)

Chip would be foolish to jump to the NFL - and it has nothing to do with any rumors about his personal life. That doesn't mean he won't do it. You don't climb as high as Chip has without a good sized ego.

Re: The Chip Kelly-to-the-NFL rumors persist, and Oregon recruits are hearing about i

If Chip were to go to the NFL, I'd say take his show south to SD. They're already dialed-in to his type of offense down there.

The spread is a warm weather offense, so I would agree.
