The Clippers got SCAAA-REWWWEEEED last night

Absolutely. It was criminal. It started with the phantom foul sending Durant to the line and ended with the phantom foul sending Westbrook to the line. What happened in between was just as bad.

League apology forthcoming? Doubtful.

I was really annoyed by that "clear path" foul at the end of the 1st. That shouldn't have even been a foul, let alone a clear path. But all that other stuff at the end was pretty messed up too. Here's a fun read.

No question they did - but how low of a basketball IQ does that team have collectively to have even been in position to lose that game? Good lord - CP3 was flat terrible down the stretch! Bailing Westbrook out on that horrible pullup from three was just the icing on the cake.

Dont care I hate both those shit teams as much as I hate r*ckets and l*kers

I hate the OKC Thunder moreso than the Clips. But holy shit, the Clips got fucked in the ass by the refs on TWO back to back calls during the last 60 seconds of the game.

Holy shit- I couldn't believe it.

Yes, and btw, CP3 got hacked on the arm on the last play - that's why he coughed the ball up.

They got robbed.

It amazes me that some of you are still surprised when shit like this happens. The NBA wants the Durant/LeBron finals matchup.

Chris Paul hit Westbrook on the elbow. It was a foul.

That one was questionable. I honestly didn't see much contact, but the out of bounds play before that was highway robbery and that means Westbrookie shouldn't have had the shot.

Doc Rivers himself said the team "stopped playing" with 3 min left in the game and made several mistakes that cost them the game. They shouldnt have put themselves in the situation to lose it the way they did.

Yea, The Clips screwed themselves. Never seen CP3 so dejected as he was in the presser after the game. Massive Fail.

Agreed. The Clips choked. But the refs hands around their throats didn't help matters. And it tarnishes the game.

You couldnt believe it? You might not want to be a blazer fan then...

No they didn't.

Rule 8 II
If a player has his hand in contact with the ball and an opponent hits the hand causing the ball to go out-of-bounds, the team whose player had his hand on the ball will retain possession.

Thunder ball

The issue wasn't the the call was wrong, the issue was the explanation. It wasn't inconclusive. They got the call right though

I don't think that applies here. The way I interpret that rule is that if I was holding the ball, and you slapped my hand and the ball went flying out of bounds, it would still be my ball. But in this case, if you slap my hand and I lose the ball, and then I hit the ball again before it goes out of bounds, it's their ball. From what I saw, Barnes slapped Jackson as he came down the lane, the ball comes out, and then Jackson flails to emphasize the foul, but when he flails he hits the ball again and it goes out of bounds.

It was a foul, but the refs didn't call a foul. They called it as out of bounds to the Thunder. The call was wrong.

We will have to agree to disagree then. I interpret the rule differently. He had both hands on the ball when Barnes slapped his hand, causing the ball to go out of bounds. Yes, off Jackson's hand, but that's because it was hit and in one motion went out of bounds.

lol. Is anyone surprised, though, that Tony Brothers made both of those crucial calls.

But it looked like, to me, that when he hit Jackson it caused the ball to come free, but it wouldn't have necessarily gone out of bounds. It was when Jackson flailed his arms to try to draw the foul that the ball hit his hand and went out. I don't have a bias in this, that's just how I interpret that rule and how I saw the play.

Like I said in the playoff thread...vague. Barnes actually caused it to go out of bounds. Jackson lost the ball when his hand was hit (which shouldn't even be a foul according to this rule, you just get the ball back) Jackson then touched it and deflected it a bit with his right hand. He didn't have possession again.

It says caused, Barnes caused it. Thunder ball. The rule doesn't clarify things. What if Barnes slapped the hand and the ball went off of Jackson's leg?

Clippers choked, and it did look like Paul got hit on the last play. I hate that refs are even a part of it.

Caused is a vague term, indeed. I think it means that the initial motion of the defender has to directly cause it to go out of bounds. I don't think the pinball theory works. If he hits your hand and then the ball hits your knee and goes out of bounds, I think the ball goes to the defender's team.

After I saw that rule, I thought maybe they were right, but then reading this... I really think it should have been LAC ball. And so did everyone in that stadium.

Flop City whining about the refs. Reminds me a lot of the Houston series.

I HATE both of these teams, but the Clippers are the biggest whiners in the league. Griffin Farce is 6'10, 260 and he flops around like a rag doll. The guy should be ashamed of himself. CP3 and Doc both whine after EVERY call/non-call.

The poor refs can't figure out which media darlings they are supposed to favor in this series. Is it the league MVP, or endorsement kings Griffin Farce and Chris/Cliff? No wonder the refs have been so bad in this series.

BNM

P.S. The Clippers totally screwed themselves. Take care of the ball and that controversial play never happens. CP3 thought Westbrook was going to intentionally foul him with 17 seconds left, let up, lost his focus, lost the ball and the game. It's like the Rockets whining about the officials when their leading scorer couldn't throw the ball in the ocean. Want to win? Play better. Don't let it come down to one bang-bang out of bounds call to decide the game. Take care of the ball and execute and you win. Plain and simple.

I hate both teams, but the Clippers definitely got screwed. The ball was obviously off of OKC and it was reviewed. It should have been Clipper ball. Whatever other mistakes were made is irrelevant. This was a reviewed call and was blown. That shouldn't happen.
