Love it, welcome back Jon. Wish we didn’t have to choose between the two, but since we do the choice is easy. I will choose the tired old man who is a decent person with integrity who’s chosen to surround himself with competent high integrity people. That’s far better than the narcissistic sociopath that is the alternative.

How did we get to a point where two decrepit old men are our only choices.

Senate Republicans chose not to convict Trump after his second impeachment. If they had, Trump couldn’t run legally. And likely Biden wouldn’t be running now, and we’d be free from this nightmare. Unfortunately Republican senators are fucking spineless hacks.

Decent old man who is funding a genocide isn't so decent after all. He's got no chance and has completely lost the youth because of his choices. There's no way the party should let him run. The DoD handed the party a "get out of jail" card by saying he is senile and doesn't remember when his son died.

Well, I don’t have any skin in the game there in Gaza, so I am reasonably clear eyed about what’s going on. And I will say unequivocally that yes Biden is a decent old man. That said, what is happening in Gaza is an impossible situation for Democrats in particular. Older democrats by a huge margin support Israel, just like Biden. Whereas younger Democrats support the Palestinians, it’s close to impossible for a Dem to walk this tightrope.

It’s a perfect demonstration of why the Dems need a younger bolder leader with a fresh approach to things. Biden is from the school of thought that the best approach to long term success with getting concessions out of Israel is supporting them, especially during a crisis, essentially unquestionably.

Now as an outside observer that reasoning, quite obviously is completely wrong, and with essentially extremists running Israel now it is proving to be unbelievably stupid actually. But as bad as it is in Gaza if the “youth”, or yourself, or anyone else thinks that the alternative to Biden is going to result in better things for the Palestinians I think you’re fooling yourself. It really sucks, I understand, but these are our choices.

Edit: I am not sure what you’re referring to with the DoD saying he’s senile, can you expand on that? And out of the likely Dems who would you like to see running instead? And what would you propose they do to help the situation in Gaza?

“TDS” flashing across the screen as the intro is so perfect.

Only two choices?

Here's a more charming picture of him.

I think Biden will win pretty easily actually. Trump is just too much, and people know it's not just talk now.

Disagreed. Even Bush drew red lines for Israel and Bibi stepped back in place when his funding was at stake. Biden is just weak. All he needs to do is draw a red line and if it gets crossed again, we're pulling our funding. Bibi would get back into place. Multiple presidents did that and he obeyed.

I think it has to be Gavin Newsom if the Democrats actually want to win.

No President has won with his approval numbers. If he wins, I would be shocked. Polling looks abysmal for him. I think you're going to have a record low turn out.

You could be right... I hope not. I'll do everything I can to get out the vote against Trump.

Well, Trump isn't going to win Oregon. That's for sure, so I guess it doesn't matter what I do. Lol

I'm in CA. I'll probably vote for Cornel West if I vote at all. I don't want to deal with another four years of Trump either, but I can't in good conscience vote for Biden, like so many others.

Reasonable people can disagree, but I do not think an American president can control what is going on in Israel at the moment. Israel is run by the most hardline extremists they've ever had running their country, and there's massive support within Israel to continue the war. This is not like past situations. I am fairly confident Israel would continue to do what they're doing regardless of what Biden or any other American president tells them. They're on a rampage to compensate for their massive military and intelligence failures of October 7th, and Bibi is reacting the way he is because he has virtually no choice. He has to remain in power to prevent getting charged for corruption (sound familiar?) and in order to stay in power he has to demonstrate being strong against Hamas.

That said, I agree Biden needs to stand more firm against Israel and set some pretty clear red lines, and IMO there HAS to be a two state solution to the whole situation. This has to be made clear, and that there is no other outcome that will be agreed to by the US if they want our support. I also agree with Gavin Newsom, I think at this moment he would be the best choice and a better option than say Gretchen Whitmer.

American tax payers are literally funding a genocide. If Joe pulled their funding, that would be a step in the right direction. But he's already admitted that he's a Zionist so that ain't gonna happen.
