has to be the HOLD.

Example: Chris Martin came into the game today for the Yankees, pitched 1/3rd of an inning & gave up a hit & was credited with a HOLD. Seriously?

I agree- although It's not an "official stat" and in this case involving Martin, imo, he did a BAD job allowing a 7th inning run scoring hit (RBI) in 1/3 of an inning to make the score 3-2 in favor of Yanks....this was a two run game in the 7th inning and he turned into a ONE run game, literally cutting the Yanks' lead in half. I realize you can't have or expect a "clean" outing all the time from your relievers.....but in this case, imo, Martin did not do well.

On a less important matter regarding this Martin performance, the RBI hit he allowed is currently the difference between Eovaldi having a 3.81 ERA and a 3.52 ERA.
