Pretty much sums it up. I'm a big Bale fan and I liked his performance but the movie just flat out wasn't that good. It wasn't bad either, just not really noteworthy. I'd give it a 6.5-7/10.
Well, Memento is a classic to me, there's no shame in not living up to that film. The Machinist is entertaining and I think it is always nice having a film that shows how actors should aspire to be.
I'd give it a 7 actually, I'm a big Bale fan too but I don't give away favorable reviews either.
