Cops nationwide rank metham- phetamine the No.1 drug they battle today: in a survey of 500 law‐enforcement agencies in 45 states released last month by the National Association of Counties, 58 percent said meth is their biggest drug problem, compared with only 19 percent for cocaine, 17 percent for pot and 3 percent for heroin. Meth addicts are pouring into prisons and recovery centers at an ever‐increasing rate, and a new generation of “meth babies” is choking the foster-care system in many states. One measure of the drug’s reach: Target, Wal-Mart, Rite-Aid and other retailers have moved nonprescription cold pills behind the pharmacy counter, where meth cooks have a harder time getting at them.

I think the real problem with this drug is how easily it can be cooked. Labs can make this product with household chemicals. The precursors aren't too hard to hide.

You know its bad when it puts cocaine (crack mainly) and heroine to minuscule comparisons.

This is such a sad situation. I feel so bad for the parents of those that get addicted. I know many inherit this lifestyle; but something needs to stop.

I can't tell you how many people i went to school with that are on that shit and throwing their lives away. Really smart people that i was sure were going to go to good colleges and make something of themselves too. That shit is killing small town Oregon.

Yeah it really makes me sad.

From what I have heard, Meth is slowing down in Oregon since we made prescriptions for sudafed law. But heroin is back on the rise here.

The problem isn't the home cooks as much as the mexican mafia now bringing in tons of pure, cheap product. That's insane about heroin on the rise. That's another drug that can completely destroy lives!

Here in the Riverside area, meth has been an issue for awhile. However, the same situation that was mentioned above about heroin being on the rise is also true here. Heroin is making a pretty solid comeback in this area because it has become more accessible than meth.

OMG your signature is too fucking distracting!

That article is really old. The vast majority of meth now comes from Mexico and made in commercial super labs similar to what you see on Breaking Bad.
