Rumors are spreading again the Idris Elba will take up the mantle from Daniel Craig (who is making one more appearance as the famous British agent) and become the next James Bond.

Director Antoine Fuqua met with Producer Barbara Broccoli to discuss who should take over the role of Bond when Craig departs. While names like Tom Hardy, Tom Hiddleston, and Michael Fassbender have been thrown around, Broccoli feels that an ethnic minority actor should portray Ian Flemming's secret agent, and that, "it will happen eventually"

What do you guys think? Who should be the next Bond?

Stringer Bell!

I hope Elba gets the nod. He has the acting chops and charisma to do a great job as Bond. He seems a touch old to begin a stint as Bond though. Fuqua has been hit or miss, but I like him. I'll be there when the movie comes out.

But is it like a 40 degree day?

I told you guys he was good. If want to see how really good he is just watch "The Take".

The bad news is that Elba says not to believe "... all the hype."

In related news, Dog The Bounty Hunter will replace Oprah Winfree in the upcoming epic remake of The Color Purple.

I've long thought that Henry Cavill would be excellent in the role, but since he's already Superman, it's doubtful that he'd be given another major franchise.

Interesting

I hope not.

Don't want retreads.

White folk are gonna go crazy if this happens.

This post is a special kind of stupid.

James bond is a revolving character that can be played by anyone (anyone white in your eyes). The making of a new 007 movie means just that, it's an entirely new film. Filming another The Color Purple would require a remake NOT a sequel... When's the last bond remake that was made...? Oh wait... That's never happened...

So in closing, you don't seem to use logic to form your opinions. Something else is in play here...

Really should be a Brit actor. It is and always was British.

Sean Connery isn't British. Neither are George Lazenby or Pierce Brosnan.

That said Elba is British

I think the tweet is confirmation that he's not taking the role.

Like he's saying he's himself not Bond. I hope he doesn't take the role.

It'd be like if they chose a black superman. White people everywhere would collectively lose their minds.

(Even though superman would be stronger of he had dark skin)

Amazing how Elba is assumed to not be British when he's more British than the previous Bond actors.

Amazing but expected...

Actually, "Casino Royale" has been made twice--once in 1967 with David Niven (Ian Fleming's original choice for Bond), and then again in 2006 with Daniel Craig.

That said, the rest of your post was spot on.

You know, @stampedehero didn't actually say he didn't think Elba was British. You just assumed that.

Casino Royal (2006) is one of my favorite Bond movies.
