Amid multiplying deaths on Everest due to overcrowding, Nepal refuses to limit number of climbers on the worlds tallest mountain.

At $11,000 a pop, I see why. All about money. Who cares about peoples lives. There are so many people climbing everest as you can see in the picture, long lines of people have to wait their turn to get a chance to stand on the summit. While waiting climbers are literally suffocating to death. On the way down climbers are disoriented and weak from waiting. Either they run out of air or end up falling to their deaths.

Had no idea there were that many stupid people with 11 grand to waste. Wow

11k is really not that much money to a lot of people. How many people own things like jet skis and boats and snow mobiles and motorcycles? All of those things cost 11k or more.

It isn't the amount of money, it is that one would guess that most people with that type of extra cash aren't stupid enough to do something this dumb.

Maybe someone gives out loans. Like a title loan for your car only they use your organs as collateral. Might be some real profit in that.

Someone died while descending due to the crowded conditions.

Not much money to me. I'm putting up a new cedar fence that will cost me close to $20,000.

I wanna be the repo man.

Not that Im a fan of people dying, but I think we have to consider that many people who are avid climbers have come to grips with the idea they could or would die doing it.

I think we have to consider

Not sure I get the point? Perhaps because I am not an avid climber, I don't know.
I climbed Mt Jefferson once, went none stop to get the hell down off there where I could get enough air. Hell, I can't take Colorado Springs more than a day and a half.

Oh yeah, you talk big but when push comes to shove even if I paid you more you'd find some weak excuse to weasel out. "Oh, oh, I've got to reprimer the Jeep."
Ha! Choking people is like being an NBA player to me. Sure it would be cool to get paid but I love it so much I'd do it for free.

That's fine. One of the guys that just died was 44 I think with a wife and two kids.

I'm not sure the children care that daddy thought it would be awesome to climb mountains for fun.

I cry when I watch youtube videos of homeless dogs getting rescued. I have the movie Everest on 3d and my wife got a bit misty when everyone died...I didn't even care in the least. They did it to themselves.

Maybe if you’re 44 with a wife and kids dont go Climb mount Everest...? I mean yes its sad, Im not at all “happy” about it, but I was just pointing out many of those people are more than willing to accept they may die doing that.

Climbing Everest is so commonplace it's a mystery why anyone wastes the time.

In truth, it's a long walk up a steep slope, not much actual climbing is involved, and the lack of oxygen and/or lack of proper clothing are the only significant dangers.

Over 4,000 people have climbed Everest, including old men and children.

13: Age of Jordan Romero, the youngest climber to reach the summit, in May 2010.

76: Age of the oldest climber to reach the summit, Min Bahadur Sherchan, in May 2008.

So they can brag about doing something everybody else has already done?

It's about as unique as waiting for your turn at a Disneyland ride.

Hey you kids, get off my cold tall lawn!

When were you in colo springs? Ever make it to manituau?

Oh, about 35 years ago, going again this coming Thanksgiving. Brother in law, Retired Airforce guy, lives there.
Can't remember all the stuff we saw on the sight seeing tour, but no recall of manituau. I do recall feeling what 7000' feels like after a few hours.
I am taking the train this time out of probably Oxnard, instead of flying in. That flight to Colorado springs from Denver is the only flight
I ever got sick on. Not really sick but close.

It was sort of funny too, wife on one side of me, a lady on the other, window side. The lady with window just has to have the window, wife just has to have the isle seat. So all 240 of me is stuffed in the middle. The lady with the window wants to chat, so we chat until I start getting green
then she want to get the fuck out of there. Wife laughs like hell! Man you sure ran her off, big meany! I was fine soon as we went wheels down, but I don't want to do it again. The up and down drafts are fierce there.

I lived there for a few years in the mid 90's.

If you are into blues, go to the Blue Manituau ( though I heard rumors it might have closed) A bar set over the top of a creek. Next door there is an old school arcade also on top of the creek. cool little place. Its to Colo springs is what Boulder is to Denver.

And you took a flight on an 80 minute drive? LOL Musta took longer to check in and board!

Funny when I think back on my air travel in the US. I hate it but did it. The only time I flew to Denver was non business related. A few stops there but it was not the destination. Had customers in probably every City in the US, except Denver. Either a Trucking company, Railroad, Shipping, Air Freighter, Bank or Scientific Lab. Probably flew to every damn one but none in Denver.

I feel bad for the Sherpas. Their government is really screwing them over to serve rich people from across the globe that have them hauling all their gear up with zero regulation.

Shit! I didn't know you were an adventurer Maris. When did you climb Everest?

He didn't climb it. He went to the base and shot the mountain, then stood over it's dying summit and yelled, "FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS!"
