Looks like the Suns want Josh Smith for Marcin Gortat in a package?
Great thread topic BGD. I have gone back and read some of your recent thread topics and posts and you might be the only squared away and halfway decent poster on here. It's nice to come across somebody who is as knowledgable about the game as myself. Keep up the good work.

WTF is going on with the forum?
Anyway, hopefully the Blazers do something with Hickson and or Matthews

Wes is great for us. But yes maybe a sixth man in future. Problem is what SG out there would we be able to get via trade??
Josh Smith for Meyers Leonard, JJ Hickson, Nolan Smith and a first-round pick
Everyone focuses on Josh Smith’s iffy shot-selection, but he can play some basketball too. He’s an Atlanta native who has spent the first nine years of his career playing for one of the most poorly run and nondescript franchises in the NBA. More than anything else, he needs a change of scenery.
Portland would be the ideal fit. It would force LaMarcus Aldridge to play at the 5, but with the NBA game becoming smaller and more perimeter-oriented, that’s a natural transition. Aldridge and Smith’s games mesh perfectly: Aldridge can stretch the floor and allow Smith to operate closer to the basket, while Smith’s passing ability would create easy shots for a big man who can finish from any part of the floor. A front-court with those two and Nic Batum is only the progression of Damian Lillard and a bench away from being an elite team.
Did you guys see this suggestion on Realgm?
I don't care for it personally. Never was a big fan of Josh Smith. It makes our team older and shorter. Pass.
What free agent SG? Haven't seen list mags

If you're talking "big picture" then I agree that he's fairly average. But if we're talking about today...I think he's Top 10 at his position. There is a dearth of SG talent right now (especially if you take into account salary and age) which makes what should be "average" into "well above average".There's nothing inherently wrong with Matthews, but he's pretty average all things considered. I think he's better suited to coming off the bench as a sixth man.
You can take CP3 and Ginobili off that list - we all know that they aren't coming here. Then strike all the PGs names (also including CP3) and you're left with a list that includes TWO players who some MIGHT argue are better than Wes...three if you're from NYC.Unrestricted:
Harris, Korver, Barbossa, Stackhouse, Nate Robinson, Gibson, Livingston, Mayo, Igudala, Brewer, Calderon, Jack, DJ Augustin, Chris Paul, Billups, Monta Ellis, Udrih, J.R. Smith, Redick, Telfair, Patty Mills, Ginobili, Randy Foye, Tinsely, Watson, Ariza, Webster

Outside of Kobe, Wade, Ginobili and Harden there aren't any SGs who don't have gaping holes in their games - I think Wes is one of the guys with the fewest holes.
So who are you going to get that would be a better SG? Sad as it is, I don't think we can upgrade at the SG position.

I agree with this - the better defender should play against the opposition's better players.Mayo or reddick off bench. Exactly the scoring we need. Let Wes play defense on first unit against other teams best player
