The Official Nets Playoff Thread 2007

Well, only 3 games are left in the regular season, but the Nets have already clinched a spot in the playoffs. So, all that's left to see if who we face in the first round. It can be either Detroit (if we finish 8th), Chicago/Cleveland (if we finish 7th) or Toronto (if we finsih 6th). Right now, the main focus is on winning the next three games and hoping that Washington loses at least one of their next three (or win 2 and hope Washington loses 2) in order to get the 6th seed and also, as a bonus, reach .500.

Who do you guys prefer to meet in Round One? What do you think the team will accomplish in the playoffs? Will we surprise everyone and get to the Conference Finals? Or will we get swept 4-0 in Round One? Please put all of your comments about the playoffs in here.

Personally, I think that the way we're playing lately is good, especially compared to the rest of the season. IMO, we can beat Toronto despite the fact that they're obviously better that us and can also surprise Cleveland (would be very tough) and Chicago (who haven't been playing too well lately). The only team that we definently cannot beat is Detroit, who are the top team in the east and are also a very good playoff team. If we play good defense, and the Big Three do their jobs along with some help from the bench (which is something we didn't have last season), we can be a dangerous underdog.

I would love to get the 6th seed and face the Raptors who have no playoff experience rather then the Pistons. I think we are capable of beating the Bulls or Cavs, but like you said it will be very tough.

It's really just a matter of playing consistent basketball. If the Nets can play to their true potential, I really don't see the need to worry about the team that we will be facing in the first round. With the team at hand, the Nets can very well beat anybody.

Well, we beat Indiana. One down, two to go. Plus, Washington lost to Chicago, which was important as well. Now we're just a game behind them for the 6th spot, and we have the tiebreaker if both teams end up with the same record.

We have our last away game of the season today vs the Knicks, and obviously it's a must win. Then, we have Chicago at home which is definently a winable game.

Meanwhile, Washington have Orlando at home and Indiana away, and we need them to one if we are to win both of our games, or lose two if we lose one. I predict that they'll lose vs Indiana, at least, because it's on their 2nd game of a back-to-back (first is Orlando), and Indiana aren't pushovers as they proved yesterday.

Basically, if Washington loses both of their games, all we have to do it beat the Knicks.

If we lose Cleveland takes over the 2 seed (assuming they win out) and we drop to the 5th seed so we're playing with passion right now.

Really? I didn't check out recent scores, I just remembered from checking some of the Bulls' games out that they didn't play too well....maybe that's longer ago than I remember.

As for the meeting between the two teams, I think for both teams it's a must win game, and the Nets have home advantage, so it's a winable game for the Nets. The game is very important for both teams.

Anyway, now we'll get to see the true colors of the Nets. All the pressure is on them right now against Toronto, especially on VC.

Anyone have predictions? I'll put mine up later.

Raptors in 5. I don't think the Nets can handle the Raptors. Although not having much playoff experience, the team has huge momentum coming off the regular season. Sure VC might torch us, but I don't think it'll be enough in a best of 7 series even with Kidd and Jefferson. Bosh will simply dominate downlow IMO, he's just too quick for Moore.
