From now on, post all of your bitching and complaining about TO here. His play lately has certainly earned it.

Only one overreacting thread tonight? Congrats, everyone! We are improving as a group!

Ugh. Travis is what he is, love him or hate him he's a bench scorer that takes and (frequently) makes very tough (and sometimes stupid) shots.

Expect anything more and you'll end up with high blood pressure. There's plenty of suckitude in tonight's game that I'm not sure I'd single Travis out.

I would like to semi-recant my first post....seems like everybody is in agreement with you Chris...even the more level headed posters around here

Travis is a black hole - the ball goes to him and never comes out - for good or ill.

...sounds like another player that rhymes with TO, zBO [TO must GO just like zBO]!!!

At least zBO had some bball IQ...

ugh. Travis is definitely a high risk/potential high reward player. Some nights he brings the effort (and accompanying rebounding, shot blocking, and quality shots), and others he will ugly shot and turnover the team right out of the game. I wish we would give up on the idea of him having the quickness to guard your average NBA 3. LMA has better lateral agility than Trout. TO needs to guard the opposing 4, IMO.

Overall...Stop the roller coaster, I wanna get off.

But I agree with Nik on this:

I'm not even mad at him for that. I'm mad that he is completely fucking lost on the court so many times per game, most of the time on defense. How about those turnovers? I really do think he is counter-productive to what the Blazers are trying to do on the court. He's great at creating his own shot and even when he's shooting well like tonight, he is a negative influence to the production on the court. Just my opinion though.

for the love of god do not put bayless and TO on the court at the same time. they both have the same 1 on 5 mentality and it kills any flow we have.

At least this will be more localized to one thread now I guess. So if people want to complain, then they'll have a place to do it. I'm ready to be done with Travis. I love when he gets his jumper going, but it's just not enough anymore. It's funny because if you just look at box scores, his stats don't look that bad. Also, looks like Bayless played like crap tonight. Wronnnng.

Man.. how did Travis get 16 points on 7 of 13 shooting, but end up with a -22 in the +/-... geez. That's pretty bad. I didn't see the game, but Travis -- you better than that.

I want to write a lot, but I try to stay away from "I told you so" posts.

not to harp but how exactly did bayless play a good game tonight? granted not many outside of joel and rudy looked decent.

Probably from the zeros in the rest of his statline minus one steal I think, four turnovers, and two blocks allowed.

When the starters are playing that poorly, it seems rather silly to blame the bench.

Travis Outlaw spun past NBA Finals MVP Paul Pierce, dunked on 2004 NBA MVP Kevin Garnett, and in doing so, we became only the 5th team to beat the reigning NBA Champs! And people have a problem with this guy?

People have problems with some holes in his game that hurt the team even after six years. If you cannot recognize those flaws well I don't know what to sy.

KingSpeed, one day I hope you'll realize that one positive play doesn't make up for negative ones.

Cancel the rest of the season. We have defeated the reigning world champs, therefor WE are the best team in the NBA. No reason to continue on with the season. We are the best team, and Travis is clearly the best player because he spun past NBA Finals MVP Paul Pierce and dunked on 2004 MVP Kevin Garnett. /Season

HE didn't play well... but Sergio sucked also, so really no way to go. Why don't you complain about how Sergio did instead of Bayless?

Zach Randolph had plenty of big games for Portland and made quite a few game-winning shots. Should we have kept him?

The stop at nothing defense of Outlaw amazes me all over the internet. 3 game winning shots makes you completely untouchable for alot of people, which is amazing.

As for the being done with Outlaw, I reached that point half way through last year, it gets worse, primarily because of the rationale used to defend him, but I do not want him on my team anymore.

One thing that bugged the shit out of me last night, we're down by 10, maybe 12, I dunno. Game was over, but still, usually teams start trying to get some quick 3s, see what can happen. Outlaw drives and tries to go for a big tomohawk dunk. Fucking asshole. Can't ever take the ball to the hoop and try to dunk over people, but then we're down big with a minute left, and he's going to? Posey fouled him the second time he tried it, he should have hit him harder for being an idiot.

Yeah I remember one of those especially. He drove into a triple team, jumped into the air, and threw it to....the other team. He's not Sergio. He's not Roy. He's not Rudy. He shouldn't be trying to pass while jumping, let alone driving into triple teams.

Travis is a fucking asshole for driving to the basket? Others think he's a fucking asshole for taking ill advised jumpers.

Must be the same as when I think some fans are fucking assholes when the get out of bed in the morning and others are fucking assholes when they post in forums.

um because the poster mentioned that looking at the box score you'd think bayless played horribly and they'd be wrong. the subject was bayless not sergio. for the record, yes sergio played poorly but you ignored my part about everyone but joel and rudy playing well. selective reading is fun on the internet.

btw, jumping to pass is something you learn not to do in the 3rd grade, yet we have two guys off the bench who do it quite a bit.

Well, if you read the entirety of my post, I was saying it was stupid to do at that juncture of the game. Especially when he refuses to do it when it could have an actual affect on the game. Almost as if the game was over, so he was just looking to make a highlight.

He saw an opening to the hoop and tried to put it in. I understand that some posters will find fault no matter what the circumstance. We were without Roy and a better team beat us and yet Travis gets most of the blame for a defeat that Blake and Aldridge came up small for us.

So is the contention that Outlaw is a below-average bench player or that he is overpaid? Either one I could see as rationale for being "done with him." If he's at least average for a bench player and not overpaid, how is he hurting the team?

I think Outlaw has lots of flaws. Those flaws are what prevent him from being a really good player. When you combine both his strengths and weaknesses, you have an above average reserve, IMO. And his salary isn't large, so he's not hurting the team's payroll.

So, yeah...his mistakes frustrate me. His great plays cheer me up. Overall, I don't (and never have) seen him as a good starter for this team, but I think the criticisms of him, a bench player, are a bit overdone. If he were the team's "star" and paid like it, I'd understand much better.
