We had one of these for Kidd last year, and it was pretty successful. Lets see what we can come up with for VC.

A lot of us are expecting Carter to have a huge year. He looks healthy and motivated. I think Carter will have HUGE value by the deadline. He won't be bitching about wanting to leave the team, his stats will be amazing, and he claims he's accepted being the leader. What better time to trade him away for young talent, cap space for 2010, and a pick or two?

Trade Ideas:

War_Poet's:

Nets also get a first round pick.

Nets get back 3 promising players, a potential lotto pick, and shed Carter's salary for 2010. This also adds to our international appeal. Does it give us the opportunity to sign 2 big free agents in 2010?

Blazers get Vince Carter who is, again, healthy and motivated. It allows them to play Bayless at PG, and have 2 superior distributors at SG and SF (Roy and Carter). They also get a good defender off the bench. NetIncome suggested that the Blazers would be willing to trade young talent for a veteran, to avoid massive paydays in the future.

Problems: Gives the Nets 17 players, so we'd need to cut/move 2 players.

Potential remedy:

Heat get GS's pick.

flavioVC15x I know this probably wouldn't happen

I'd love that trade if only for Rodriguez and Fernandez, but Blazers love those guys and wouldn't part with them.

Sorry guys I just don't see any of those trades happening, though Ma3oxuct's is probably the most probable. I wish the Portland deal could go through, but Batum and Rodriguez are very good players and very well liked by Blazers fans, so don't think they'd trade both of them in the same trade.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of Vince Carter - Wally Szczerbiak's expiring contract rumours flying around in the months to come. Not dead keen on the idea of that though.

We'll use him as trade bait for Ricky Rubio. I'd say Bayless for Rubio+Four 1sts sounds fair.

I'd do this

We'd also get there 2009 first rounder...
Bayless is an ideal Devin backup, Webster and Batum could play pair with CDR to form a solid young foundation at SG/SF and LaFrentz is cap relief...the 2009 first would probably be around 24 or 25, but potentially still usefull.

Carter would give Portland a veteran leader with playoff experience who could help take Portland to the next level without costing them much depth, Hassell and Ager are basically throw ins but Hassell could help bring some defensive toughness.

Keep this name in mind: Vince Carter. Many observers around the league think the Nets will make the veteran shooting guard available at the trade deadline, and don't be surprised if the Cavs make another run at him.

The question in Cleveland is whether Carter can set aside his ego and play second fiddle with the Cavs. He should be able to accomplish that in order to win a championship before he retires.

hoopshype - what do you guys think? wally for vince?

No way in hell from our perspective. That's like saying Lebron for Swift/Hassel and Williams. GTFO!
