The one deal that makes total sense for me.

Big fish/small pond. Young is putting up those numbers as the number 2 option on a team that's 8-20. Batum is putting up his numbers as the number 4 option on a team that's 23-5.

I would never think Batum is not worth his contract, but saying Young isn't worth his is just plain silly. 9 mil for a 17 PPG, 6.7 rebound and 17.3 PER player is a nice contract. Do you think it isn't?

If they want to, sure. Lowry wants to start and deserves to. He would probably resign with Toronto if hes the starter instead of signing with us to be a backup

I think if we win it all, he would be more than happy to play the "The Jet" role off the bench; especially since he would probably average 25 minutes a game regardless.

The question isn't who is better. If Young was better than Lowry, I would rather have him. The question is, do you think Toronto will be able to keep Lowry?

They play different positions, but I'd say Lowry and Young are about equal in talent level and what they bring. The difference is Lowry fills a position of need (he's the staring PG) and Young would be redundant. He's a better scorer than Amir Johnson, but Johnson is a better rebounder and better defender.

Sure Toronto can keep Lowry if they want to. They have his Bird Rights. That gives them an advantage over the rest of the league in retaining his services - if they choose.

It's not the $$$$, Toronto doesn't want long term deals.

He is a young guy that has wanted to start in years past. I think you are incorrect

You just said Toronto would resign Lowry, then you say they don't want "long term deals". In order for Toronto to sign Lowry, it would have to be long term. So which is it?

I'm not saying they would, but they could decide to resign Lowry or they could just let him walk.. From all signs it appears they want to get rid of guys with years on deals. They have Johnson, so it's redundant to tie up money on both Johnson and young.

Either way, Toronto wants picks or to package fields with Lowry. Your deal doesn't meet either of Toronto's wants.

Not really. I think he's slightly overpaid. He's an undersized 4, a tweener, really. He can't guard 4s or 3s. He's the same height as Paul Millsap, but Millsap is much stronger. Millsap is a very good rebounder for his size. Young is not. I want more than 6.7 rpg out of my starting PF. He gets out rebounded by his opponent by 2.7 REB/48. One of the reasons Philly is 8-20 and in last place in the worst division in NBA history is because they are forced to start Thaddeus Young at power forward.

You can't look at his numbers in a vacuum. 17/6.7 is a good role player on a winning team, it's actually pretty sucky for the number 2 option on an 8-20 team. Borderline all-star???? Seriously??? The East sucks, but they don't suck that bad!

Meyers is probably further along in his second season than Hawes was, Lowry is not a good locker room guy and his skills are declining. No way I give up Wright, Leonard, and other small contracts to risk this kind of move. I like Hawes but we could probably find a better deadline trade without gutting the bench now. I think Olshey will tweak things before the deadline but not move that many players to do it. Toronto would jump on it though. They love tall shooters who don't play good defense. Toronto would probably bite on a smaller trade with Claver and Barton.

Toronto has ujiri as the gm now, this is not Bryan colangelo

Mags gets to experience first hand the ire of the Blazers community if you attempt to propose a trade idea.

23-5 Mags..... 23-5 :devilwink:

Yeah, their new GM has rid their roster of soft, doughy, perimeter shooting Euros. The one Euro they have left, actually plays in the post, rebounds and hasn't attempted a 3-pointer all season.

So we trade out garbage for two of the three best players in the overall trade, and Philly loses their two best players to get absolutely nothing of long-term worth...

Take Young and Toronto out of the deal, and give Philly at least two promising prospects for Hawes, and then you have something resembling reality.

23-5 teams should not make trades. It's not just about PER and on court production. It's leadership on the court, on the bench, in the locker room and in practice. Don't fuck with this team. It also sends a bad message to the team that you're not happy with their play. Jesus Christ, mags!

23-5 Eric!

Can we figure out a way to add Minnesota and Houston to this trade? I'd also like to have Asik and Rubio on our bench, plus get us a first round pick.

I'm SlyPokerDog and I approve of this idea!

Lopsided trades happen every single year.

Lopsided trades generally happen due to large expiring contracts, trade exceptions or the packaging of potentially impactful young players. None of which are involved here.

They usually don't happen until trade deadline day when GM's are out of time.

And a team doesn't generally trade for pieces that add more salary to a position they already have performing well

So what you are saying is Leonard is not an impactful player? Well that sucks for us! Wasted pick then?
