It is a complete waste buying a new gaming console within the first year of release because the development teams for these first batch of games are still learning how to master the console components in order to make quality and deep games. This is why we see so many bad and choppy games come out at the start. Take a look at NBA Live games for the start or Red Steel.
I think I can wait until the price of those consoles go down, because none of them are providing enough quality material just yet for me to dish out that much cash. Blu ray on PS3 for 600 dollars is a good deal considering that the normal Sony players are priced from 2 to 3 thousand. However, after viewing how those players work I'm not too greatly impressed. Sony has always been known to be a dodgy coompany despite their big name so I don't put full trust into them with my cash flow.
Wii looks more promising to me at the moment. I like the unique control style you can adapt to games and the originality of their upcoming games has to be something to drool over given they can put it all into full effect. For instance the game where you can take control of an orchestra. How original is that? Question will be if they can pull it off to be a fun experience or if it will flop.
So what am I going to do? I'm getting a Nintendo DS, screw wasting money on something that will collect dust for the first year or so.

Exactly right. I remember the only consoles that ever had many quality games in the first year were Nintendo 64, SNES, NES, and the original black and white Gameboy. In other words more-so trust Nintendo if you came from that era cause I know I would still trust them first despite the huge disapointment the Gamecube was.
