Our offense is easily rattled and often confused. We put too much on Roy and when he goes to the bench our offense only gets worse if we aren't running.

The solution is obtaining a Vet PG. I know I'm in the minority here but I like the thought of Jason Kidd. Our youth is our downfall in close games. We could balance that out with a good veteran PG weather it's Kidd or somebody else.

Actually, I think our biggest problem is we're playing teams that are better than us.

We weren't going to win anything this year, anyway. There's NO reason to disrupt the future by giving up value to get a player that's superior to Blake just for this season.

Ed O.

Playing with good vets only helps the development of our youth. Steve Blake is a fringe starter. The PG spot is really killing us right now.

Our offense has been frustrating. This year and last. There just seems to be no identity. Our sets are horrible, and I don't know if that is Steve's fault, or if Nate just doesn't know how to coach a good offensive program. Remember that Nate was never a good offensive player when he played. He was basically a taller version of Blake with better offensive players around him. Seattle never did anything with him as the starter.

Look, I hate to bag on Nate, but I'm really starting to wonder and question how good of coach he really is. He is a leader, but can he coach? One good season with Seattle does not make a great coach.

It certainly didn't kill us tonight. I thought Blake and Sergio each did a pretty good job.

LA and Frye were ineffective on the glass and Roy had problems handling the ball... the reason he's playing the PG is to get Rudy on the floor. Adding a veteran PG won't help get Rudy more minutes.

If we stand pat, making the playoff next season is still anything but a certainty.

This is the West, we can't take anything for granted. We need soild upgrades in both offense and defense and it's clear that TO and Raef might help fetch us a player we need.

Steve shot the ball well but our offense sucked. Over dribbling and the bail out plan is to give it to Roy with 5 seconds to spare to create something. We need a PG who can be a calming influence. We're just a very erratic team right now.

i actually thought blake just took up space most of the night. i'm not a big fan of this idea, but if roy and rudy are our two best players, then they just have to be on the court together at crunch time, and i think that means turning roy into a PG full time. either that, or hope rudy can play the 3 in a very small lineup. i'm not seeing many other options. my question is: is roy actually a good PG?

I like this thinking, much better than bringing in more inexperienced, potential. Bibby would fit the role too, someone to just bring a little more savy to our offense.

If we get a PG, who finishes games?

PG, Roy, Batum, LMA, Oden

How do you get Rudy in there? He's gotta be out there at the end of games even though he missed tonight.

Yep. Look what has happened to the Hawks since they got Bibby.

Of course, the Celtics proved last season that you don't need a vet PG to win it all.

Brandon sucked tonight. That was our problem.

The same player would finish out the games - Brandon Roy. Why would that change? And we can run a PG/Rudy/Roy lineup and we would be fine.

The Celtics are a team full of vets. In their starting five, Rondo was the only one who was a bit green. He was surrounded by 10+ year vets with the exception to Perkins.

Yep led them to their first playoff berth in what,.. ten years?:ghoti: As for the Celts that shows what experience (big 3) will do for you.

This coach is going to find himself jobless if he continues what he's doing with Oden healthy.

Our problem is not enough Sergio, and Joel is our only muscle in the paint.

And in 2 years they'll be weaklings again.

The real problem is 40% of the starting lineup is injured and we've started the season with road games against the Lakers, Suns, and Jazz.

When Oden went out I saw a lot of predictions that we could go 0-5 to start the season. Well we're ahead of that. It's not the end of the world, yet.

LOL I'm still wondering WTF happened to Batum in the final quarter!!:dunno:

I think we all are. And I can bet Kevin Pritchard is as well. And I can bet Paul Allen is as well. If this continues with a healthy Oden, we'll be looking for a new coach. Bet on it.

With that lineup, how do you get Batum on the floor? And that's my point. Everyone seems to want all our players on the court at the end of games, but we're only allowed 5.

Our problem is still the same as last year. We don't get easy buckets. We don't run enough for easy fast-break layups. We don't have a real garbage man down low grabbing loose balls he shouldn't be getting for easy baskets. Hell, we don't even get to the line all that much.

Once again, we need Oden to be what he should be for us to be as good as we all hope/expect? us to be this year.

the real problem is through 4 games opponents are shooting 52.4%, worst in the league by a wide margin. find a way to fix that and the offense will take care of itself.

We are in dire need of a PG. I like Steve Blake, but he's really more of a bench guy who can steady the offense when the second unit is out there.

To me, in a perfect world, the closing unit should consist of someone like Kidd, Roy, Batum, Aldridge and Oden. The next option should be Rudy if any of those asid players are in foul trouble.

It's not a perfect world though, and instead of playing a unit like Nate the great does he needs to look at matchups and what is going on. Last night at the end of the game we were having trouble defending and creating space on ofrense. In reality Batum probably should have been in the game instead of Travis. Nate probably should have given Ike a shot to rebound and defend down low because neither Frye not Aldridge were doing a good job of it.

Hell, some of us (OK, maybe just me) predicted 0-5, even with Greg in the lineup.

It would be great to see it happen, but I don't expect anything. I think we ought to hope for the best, but keep our expectations somewhat realistic; there's a good chance we open the season 0-5.
