The reason we don't have CP3 or DWill

Good point.

Williams for sure but I think it would be different if CP3 wasn't stuck playing in a dying market: New Orleans.

In Portland, with Allen willing to spend for talent, he'd still be here.

I joined this Realm of Nerds (BBF) the night we drafted Martell.
Pretty sure the Blazers got more out of landing Marty than the Realm got out of landing you. Except for Mrs. HCP, of course...

I remember seeing CP3 in the NCAA tournament pulling off the same crazy moves he brought to the NBA. It was clear as day he was the best player player in that draft with skill immediately translatable to the pro game. Nash was a moron.

Full disclosure though, I thought DWill was going to be a so-so player and wasn't annoyed we passed on him.

And then there was Lillard... The reason I no longer care about CP3 or DWill

i remember watching that martell video and getting excited, dude looked like a grown man and ready to go

And because of Webster we passed on Durant. No way were we going to draft Durant just because he killed it in the workout. Last time the Blazers did that they drafted Webster....so come the 2007 draft the Blazers were like "Well Durant killed it in the pre-draft workout but so did Webster." And then when Lillard killed it in the pre-draft the Blazers were like "Well...Durant killed it and so did Webster....shoot guess we should draft the player that killed the pre-draft workout even though we could draft another Webster."

McMillan ruined Webster's shooting confidence by making him focus on defense as his #1 priority.

Please tell me you were being sarcastic with that comment. There are so many absurd posts about how Nate "ruined"
players that it is hard for me to tell.

He ruined Rudy and Sergio the same way.

You can say he was not a good coach and I could not argue one way or the other. But to say he ruined those three players is just not true. Just because a player can't make his shots at the next level, it's not the coaches fault. The NBA is a big adjustment. Most players struggle. Rudy simply had no in-between game to keep the defenders honest. If any of them had a pull up J like Roy or Lillard, they would have succeeded in Portland. Hell even Outlaw developed a medium range jumper. Webster, Rudy and Sergio did not.

McMillan ruined Babbitt's shooting, too.

Now I know you are joking. If Babbitt can hit 90% of his shots in practice, then his shooting is fine. He just has to find a way to get open, other than stepping back a few feet more. Then it is all comes down to consistent playing time and confidence, and since he had periods where he was money this year........Nate is off the hook.

I gotta give him credit for James Jones. That guy won us games with his shooting, then that no-talent talent evaluator Pritchard dumped him.

There, I was positive.
