The RipCityTwo awards, The Rippys!

I recently reached out to some of you via private message to run this by you and the reception was good so it's time to bring the rest of you in and figure out what we want to do and how we should do it.

The idea is this, all great organizations give out awards, there are the Emmys, Oscars, Razzies and Espys. It seems long overdue that this great forum comes up with and hands out our own awards.

The Rippys! (Unless someone comes up with a better name, lol)

I'm thinking around 15-20 categories. Some serious/normal, some fun/goofy.



Like I said, I ran this idea past some of you in private and here are some ideas for categories:

Best local journalist.

Best Blazer announcer.

Best Blazer player in a supporting role.

Favorite Blazer dancer.

Favorite at Moda Center fan. (Darth Blazer, Free Throw Guy, Blazer Bruce, that lady that dances, etc...)

Favorite Concession at Moda Center. (it was suggested we call this award the Felton)

Best Blazer play of the year.

Best give-away promotion at a game.

Best tweet or instagram post by a player.

Best tweet or instagram post by a fan.

Best Blazer Duo (Batman and Robin, Danger Will Robinson, etc.)

Best Regular Season play

Best Blazer shoes (including Robin's doodles, LMA's Nikes, Dame's Adidas, etc)

Mr/Ms Blazer (the player/fan/poster/whoever who best embodies all that is Blazermania)

Best Fast Break, the Bingo, Bango, Bongo award.

The Best Game sign. (We'd need help from the Blazers on this one. Hopefully they'd have some pictures of ones taken at games this past year to choose from)

Best Blazer Block.

Best Blazer Dunk.

Best Blazer Assist.

Best interview or quote. (The "Both teams played hard" award.)

Best RipCityTwo member.





As you can see we have a few ideas so we need to narrow them down and maybe add a few more fun ones.

Please, I don't want these awards to be mean so lets not do anything like prettiest 7ft player that sucks and looks like Justin Bieber.

Denny says we have money in the budget to hand out an actual award.

I was looking at this website, http://www.crownawards.com/StoreFront/indexmain.html and found this!



But if someone has a better idea or suggestion it would be great to hear it.

Also I'm going to see if I can get our awards published in a Blazer Game Program this year and also see if we can have a 30 sec or so acceptance speech video taped of some of the winners thanking us for this great honor.

So give me your thoughts, great ideas and insults but lets have some fun!

Originally, I thought the awards would apply to posters which I thought would be interesting. But, the more I think about it, the more the awards really need to be in a poll format. If you had a poll format, you'd be leaving off too many posters, so I agree with the idea of selecting players for awards as there is a relatively small number of players/blazer employees.

There should also be some simple rules for sake of our sanity like "No writing in Rebecca Harlow for every award!"

We'll do a few posters awards. Have a nomination thread then a voting thread. But mostly we'll do players, places and people.
