I bought this movie just before Christmas at WalMart, I knew it was a classic and it was on sale so I thought, 'why not'. Last night I was bored and put it in....after a few minutes my mom knocked on the door, she recognized Morgan Freeman's voice and said, 'is that Shawshank Redemption? I love that movie'.... I was blown away. I'm not going to explain the plot but when the movie was done and the screen turned black I was just really affected by it...it's one of those couple movies where your just blown away and you feel all this emotion and you feel like you have to do different things with your life. It was an odd feeling....and was the best movie I've ever seen. Here is my favorite scene from the movie.

:happy0144: Great movie. Kind of funny how you saw it out of the whim like that. Just wanted to add William Sadler is a terribly underrated actor.

Those of us who knew him best talk about him often. I swear, the stuff he pulled. It always makes us laugh. Sometimes it makes me sad, though, Andy being gone. I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged, that's all. Their feathers are just too bright... and when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice... but still, the place you live is that much more drab and empty that they're gone. I guess I just miss my friend. Just searched forever for the quote...

Yeah, that movie is awesome. First time I saw it I was just like...wow. The part where he has to climb through all the sh*t...ugh.

Such an awesome movie. Very inspiring. Good thing you decided to watch it.

It's TNT that used to play it religously. And yes, it's my favorite movie of all time. Favorite Freeman quote:You could argue he'd done it to curry favor with the guards. Or, maybe make a few friends among us cons. Me, I think he did it just to feel normal again. If only for a short while. And of course the ending.

Real, real enjoyable movie. Despite the unrealistic nature of the characters, you feel drawn to them. The movie creates a world you don't want to leave, a trait that I can only attribute to a dozen or so films / series. If I had to rate on the standard 1 - 100, this puppy would fall in around 92 - 94. It's an "A" movie, one I'll always watch.
