Is definitely not going to be either Nicolas Batum or Lebron James. But who will it be?

Tobias Harris?
Allen Crabbe?
Gerald Henderson?
Jared Dudley?
Daniel Diez???

One of these four imo unless we make a trade:
DeMarre Carroll
Jae Crowder
Luol Deng
Al-Farouq Aminu

I could've got excited about Deng about 4 years ago. Then I found out he had too much African in him.

Where is all the excitement about Aminu coming from? He's like a poor man's RHJ, right?

He is best served as backup SF but if we were going cheap (so we could go expensive in other areas) then he is a good get.

If we were going cheap we would've stuck with RHJ, who has the potential to be a lot more.

I don't think there's really that much difference between SF and SG in most systems. Positionless basketball is in, baby!

Potential to be more in year 3. If LMA really did tell us his intentions (and they were bye - bye) then yes RHJ makes sense. If LMA comes back then RHJ makes sense in year 3 over Aminu but not year 1.

We need either a REALLY good SG or SF - someone who can score with the ball in their hands, and create at least a bit for others. Spend the most money on one of the wing positions, the second most money on the other wing, and then round it out with a hard-hat PF/C. Wings win Championships. Ultimately I hope we build a team that's competitive to draw a dominant wing NEXT summer (LBJ/Durant) - this summer's free agents don't excite me at all. And while I think that LBJ/Durant are pipe dreams, you gotta at least make a play - another miss with a trainwreck CLE team and LBJ could very well bolt, and same goes for Durant.

I fucking love Aminu. Good defender and can hit the 3 ball.

Why do people think this is even a possibility?
SA would be thrilled if a team offered him. He is restricted which means they would match the sheet and sign him for 4 years (instead of the 5 he can get for signing with SA directly) plus raises of 4.5 % (vs the 7.5% he would get directly). In fact, I would say that Kawhi would reject any offers from other teams trying to sign him (or the very least his agent would).

Easy... If San Antonio wants Aldridge bad, then they need the cap space to get him. In order for that to happen, they must get the offer in before Leonard is signed, then resign Leonard. If a team signs an offer sheet first, then SAS doesn't have the cap space to offer Aldridge or any max free agent for that matter. The choice would need to be, match and stay the same and be older, or let go and get the free agent we want.

If they aren't in the hunt for max free agents.

Of course this is a pipe dream, but sending the offer right away would completely cut out SAS as a player for any max free agent.

I don't believe it would. They have a cap hold on Kawhi until his new contract is official. And the hold isn't max. It is something like 8 MIL. So it only takes them out of the running for a max free agent if the free agent waits until July 12th to want to sign for them. Because no contracts can be signed until July 9th. They can agree to it in principal but no signing. So 3 days from July 9th is the 12th.

Even if the Spurs want LMA I can guarantee you that they want Kawhi more. Kawhi is a better player than LMA, and plays a position that's in higher demand. Why on earth would they let go their own, better player to sign a guy who is worse and plays a position that's always been the easiest to fill?
