This is comparable to Citizens United in that it completely upends legal process. Congress passes laws but can't foresee every application. Government relies on expert opinion. This hands it over completely to federal judges and Extreme Court. Food safety, public health, pollution control, auto mileage standards, school performance. Name it.
In his opinion, Gorsuch confused nitrous oxide, laughing gas, with nitrogen oxide, commonly called smog, five times. Yet he will make decisions, not experts. Just like he makes decisions about women's pregnancy.

In other Extreme Court decisions:
Overturned conviction of former small town mayor for bribery. He had steered business to a local company in exchange for campaign donations. Somehow this wasn't really bribe.

Overturned obstruction of official proceeding, felony on which some January 6 defendants were convicted.

Prohibited Securities and Exchange Commission, incorrectly called Security in decision, from administrative hearings. These hearings had been used to prosecute financial fraud. They are quicker and less costly than jury trial, plus jurors often get lost in complicated figures of securities fraud. Most will now not be prosecuted.

But they aren't totally soft on crime. Cities can prosecute homeless people for sleeping in public.
