Will Kenny Atkinson be joining the Blazers coaching pool of candidates?

I hope Kenny will not join the list -- after what he said about how the Cav's should have won or out played the knicks or something he is so out of touch so no thanks. --- maybe if he wants to be an assistant to Tiago or whoever maybe but HC -- nope big time PASS for me.

I thought he was just saying the analytics are flawed.

I have to be honest I was barely paying attention only heard or saw a sentance or something so what I saw might have been taken out of context -- will look it up -- looked it up this is the quote -- Analytically... we've won 2 out of 3... I know you look confused, but I mean, if you believe in process and all that, take that layer. I don't throw that on them, I see it for myself."

WTF -- ya no thanks

Nah, he was saying that the analytics were right and they should have won those games but their shots weren't falling like they should have and that's why they lost. Basically, the game plan was flawless despite the losses.

It was a pretty big melt down. I definitely don't want him. I'd probably prefer him over Kidd but I'd rather have JVG or one of the young guys than Atkinson after what I've seen from him.

Decided to ask AI to take all the information it could find and rank the most likely coaching outcome.

That doesn't concern me right now. Sometimes people in their careers feel they are too good for certain situations. You have to take the opportunities presented to you if you want a promotion. There is rarely such a thing as a perfect situation moving up the ladder.

The problem becomes, if experienced folks say no, is you have to hit on the person that can grow into the role. If you hit though, if you don't treat them well, they likely leave somewhere else after their contract is up. Thats when I would be concerned. Or if the person they pick is a disaster.

Sean concerned me a little just because he’s getting so much credit for Spurs improved defense. I think any coach could improve their team defense when you add a freak of a help defender like Wemby

Agreed. I liked Sweeney (as much for his work with the Mavs as the Spurs), but he is also working with the most talented defender in NBA history. It makes sense why Sweeney chose the Magic, but I'll be curious to watch what happens in Orlando because Sweeney is the defensive guru, but the Magic frankly need a TON of help on the offensive side.

I would have liked Sweeney but at least he is in the East and not the Mav's who I thought were going to get him so minor bummer but time to move on.

Lashbrook would be very underwhelming. If we are gonna trade for a “star” I hope it’s Kidd or SVG. How was Kidds relationship with Giannis in Mil?

The longer this drags out the more I like Tiago’s chances
I actually think that the time it's taken has all but assured Tiago won't be back.

Signing the acting head coach would seemingly be the quickest of all the options.

I think right now it's either going to be JVG or Kidd if Joe is able to pull off a move that makes him consider the roster as contending or I think Joe will acquire more young talent at or under Deni's age and we'll see one of the up and coming coaches in their thirties get hired.

Edit: Maybe Tiago is still in the mix and it's if we land a superstar and the roster is ready to contend it'll be JVG or Kidd and if not it will be Tiago... I still think it's more likely to be one of the guys that our new owner sees as the NBA version of Sean McVay.

I think it'll be Cronin's call in the end and Tiago is Cronin's guy. This due diligence was done to satisfy Dundon.

I am not sure what i want in the next HC assuming they move on from Splitter. If you go with a vet coach ( retread ? ) you might know what you have but you also know there flaws for the most part. If you go with a new face then it's a total crap shoot on what you might get and how long you might have to wait if they ever become good ( if ever ).

What about Reggie Miller? I think he’d be a great coach & players would want to play for him.
