What about Reggie Miller? I think he’d be a great coach & players would want to play for him.
Maybe as a shooting coach.

I said that from day oneThe #1 reason Dundon might go after Kidd is because he's still being paid by Dallas.
I believe Mediocre Man already mentioned this in this thread, but:In January 2001, Jason Kidd was arrested and pleaded guilty to a domestic abuse charge for assaulting his wife Joumana in anger. As part of his plea, Kidd was ordered to attend anger management classes for six months.
Huge difference is Kidd has been a head coach now for years and Chauncey was a first time hire.I believe Mediocre Man already mentioned this in this thread, but:
This is why I don't want Kidd and don't think the Blazers want to deal with the PR nightmare that would come with hiring him. I think we learned a lesson after we hired Billups and how the local media went after him for his past issues.
And I should probably keep my mouth shut about this, but I have a good friend who was at Kidd's house many years ago when he played for PHX and witnessed Kidd slap his wife.
He's a douche bag IMO!
I wholeheartedly support your opinion on this. What is your point ? ( KjIron ) -- I used this old article to show why I am not supporting him cause he has a track record of doing BS now I believe he has been clean since then ( he has went and checked ) but I would rather not play with fire when there are plenty of other solid options out there to be the Blazers next HC. If you do not find issue with this then that is fine and IF he did become the next HC i would not go ballistic and go WTF did we hire him. I might question the hire but I would still give him a chance even if I think it was not a good choice in MY opinion.
Fuss was raised at different stops along Chauncey's way, and it was from a long time ago as well. Fuss will certainly be raised.I wholeheartedly support your opinion on this.
Just saying if he gets hired the background stuff has already been addressed in multiple cities. Portland isn’t going to raise any real fuss.
You do realize Kidd has been a coach since before that article.Fuss was raised at different stops along Chauncey's way, and it was from a long time ago as well. Fuss will certainly be raised.
Dame backed Billups too...Again. The issue are decades old and he has been a head coach for years.
Literally an article that is 14 years old.
I’m not really a Jason Kidd advocate but this stuff would be about two days in the media and then done.
For some reason Dame backed him.
Did he? I thought he came out for Kidd first and then when Kidd declined and they cut the search to three people he just went with Billups. I mean he obviously didn’t back Hammond.Dame backed Billups too...
Sweeney from the Spurs already was hired, so wouldn't think that would specifically be the holdup. Is it us and the Bulls? Is there a coach on the knicks or spurs that everyone is waiting on? Seems like several positions are out there with no activity.
This is a very defensible assumption. I agree with this. I am wondering why they have yet to hire someone. Previously I was thinking we are after one of the coached still playing but SA Assistant got hired while they're still playing. If my memory is correct, he had a relationship with Giannas while assistant in Milwaukee.Thinking they are trying to lure Giannis, and making sure it’s a coach he likes. If Giannis says no to Portland, they will hire their first choice
During his time with Boston, Lashbrook earned praise from Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla for his work with player development and late-game preparation.
“Tyler is a great coach who excels in relationship management and communication,” Mazzulla previously said. “Last season, he led our late-game situational prep and took the lead on developing some of our younger players.”
If he got offered somewhere else, I just might if I were him. Of course, we see it as dicking him around, but have no idea what has gone on behind the scenes I suppose. It'd be funny if we ended up wanting Splitter, but he said, nah, fuck you guys for dicking me around and left for greener pastures.
| Category | Tyler Lashbrook | Micah Nori |
|---|---|---|
| NBA experience | Relatively young coach, rising through Boston's system | More than 15 years as an NBA assistant |
| Primary reputation | Player development, offensive concepts, teaching | Veteran strategist, defense, game management |
| Head coaching experience | G League head coach | No NBA head coaching experience, but extensive lead-assistant experience |
| Strength with young players | Excellent | Good, but less central to his reputation |
| Defensive reputation | Solid but not his calling card | One of his strongest selling points |
| Readiness to lead immediately | Higher upside, more projection | Safer, more proven candidate |
I know some of you hate AI, but it is no better or worse than individual articles. Instead of relying on a single person's opinion, it essentially draws information from any source it can find. Neither source is completely accurate, but both are somewhat interesting since we know very little about either.
So:
If Portland were choosing between Tyler Lashbrook and Micah Nori, they'd be looking at two very different coaching profiles.
Nori is generally viewed as the more defense-oriented coach. He's been a key part of Minnesota's coaching staff during years when the Timberwolves built one of the NBA's best defenses, and multiple reports identify defense as a major area of his responsibility.

Lashbrook, by contrast, comes from the Boston pipeline, where he developed a reputation for player development, offensive preparation, and helping young players improve. His rise through the Celtics organization has been remarkably fast, which is why he's appearing on NBA head-coaching radars despite being much younger and less experienced than Nori.
