Blackhawks trade first-round pick and a prospect to Arizona for Antoine Vermette, still pending NHL trade call

Not sure I think about it. Sather should've made the move to get Vermette last week or earlier before the Hawks got involved. Now I don't see any move for Sather to make that is worth making. Hopefully they can get Zucc resigned because we don't have good leverage with trading him because teams know we want to move him now instead of lose him for nothing. Will be interesting.

LOL come on with the last week or earlier. Couldn't be more of silly second guess than that. The Rangers have been the hottest team in the league. They certainly weren't desperate to make a deal.

Are you serious? Yea, they've been hot beating mediocre teams but you could see the flaws all season long. Physical forward who can win faceoffs , and a physical dman. Things we've all known we need for a while now.

They're 31-9-2 in the last 42 games. Get serious.

I'll disagree with you on this one Mess. Not that I am going to say we should have made a deal last week, most of us thought Maloney would hold up until the DL or close to it, but we need to add players. This team as is will not win a cup. We are not deep enough upfront or on D to win 4 playoff rounds IMO.

I wanted Winnik, we let him pass. I wanted Vermette, we let him pass (can't go crazy because we dodn't have a 1st...but another player off the board none the less). I wanted Gleason, we let him pass. I just don't know what Sather is doing here.

Like I said this AM, I don't think we need these big time players, but we do need a solid bottom 6 forward and a solid 3rd pair dman added IMO. Time is running out for Sather to get it done. 41 hours left Glen...are you awake???

And that has to do with what their weaknesses are how? Teams can win and still have weaknesses and address them. We needed a Vermette for faceoffs. You really think losing 70% of faceoffs isn't a big issue come playoff time? Ok. Well then it'll be a quick exit for us if we can't fix that. We are horrible on the PP because A) we won't shoot but more importantly B) we lose the offensive zone faceoff and lose 30 seconds of zone time and have to struggle to get it set up. In the playoffs, special teams is very important. But you keep your head buried in the sand and think we don't need anything. I think 'Hawks overpaid for a rental, but they get a guy who they need. Rangers need someone to win important faceoffs and we lack that.

They don't have a first round pick to give up because of the deal they made last season. What would you like them to do? Other teams can make better deals sometimes so you need to get over it. To tell me they should've known Kane would get hurt and Chicago would be a heavy player in the trade market is just silly.

Chicago had the ability with the draft pick to make a better deal. You get over it and move on.

I am not crazy upset about Vermette since they got a 1st, but other deals were/are there for us. Will Sather do anything...

I don't want to be a broken record about deadline day.

We've all been saying to get Vermette for a couple of weeks now. If they made the move them, Blackhawks aren't involved. Sather has been asleep this trade season. This is 2012 all over again. Look, I get that Chicago made a better offer than us. I get that. But Sather should've pulled the trigger on any of these other trade possibilities we've all discussed sooner. Now there's fewer players out there of a position we need and teams can keep demanding more as the trade DL draws closer.

Meanwhile most deals in the league take place on deadline day. Can we just stop the silliness. You have no idea but the Coyotes were asking from the Rangers. I swear some people complain just to do so.

Sather will wait until 2:59 on Monday and make some half ass deal. Just watch.

I think the better point is Maloney I think wanted to wait until right up to or near the DL. Is what it is. We still have let many players that could help us pass. If Sather does nothing it is a joke Mess.

My point is can we let this play out before going with the doom and gloom. Callahan for St. Louis wasn't a half ass deal.

I don't want to hear about Cally for MSL, that deal was handed to him in his lap.

I do agree let it play out until Monday. But if we do nothing it is a flat out joke by Sather. All I will say now.

I think he can fit as a C who can win faceoffs and kill penalties. He can play on the 4th line with Moore and Fast. Then bump up to take big faceoffs when needed.

At this point I don't see a 3rd line C out there we can get, so McClement may be the best FO option out there (unless we can get Bozak somehow).

Tlusty and Fleischmann were more attainble guys they whiffed on. Bozak they can still get without giving up a ton.

Tlusty, Fleischmann, Winnik, Gleason, Bergenheim all guys who could have helped us. And the ONLY 2nd round pick in all those deals was one for Winnik.

Glen sleeping again. If it isn't a big deal he doesn't bother waking up.

Spent all his time on Nash in 2012, when that fell through we did NOTHING. Last year big deal for MSL. This is where I think him being old and out of touch, and I bet sleeping by 9, hurts us. Can't make these fringe moves to complete the team.

Get Glencross, or Stewart, or Bernier. Get Hejda. Do something.

Yeah, it's pretty darn annoying to see 3-4 guys that are nice complimentary pieces go elsewhere for not even a 2nd. Hedja dosen't do much for me, nor McClement really. I know i keep bringing up Petry and he's RH but i dont think that should be a deterrent as he would round out the D nicely. Or Bozak but the obviously couldn't fit both. Petry is more rumored elsewhere but thats almost more important than a forward imo.

I have no issue with a guy like Hejda because we are only looking for a 3rd pair dman who can stay home and play 12 mpg with Boyle, and he fits that perfectly IMO. I would rather have gotten Gleason, but that ship sailed.

The plus with McClement is he has some size, is very good on faceoffs, and can kill penalties. Scored two goals against the Isles tonight as well.

I don't think we need a lot. I rather have the guys I mentioned above, but McClement wouldn't be a bad add either.

They don't have the cap space nor the pieces to get a lot. One or two strategic moves is what they need to look at.

That is why I would be fine if we got a Bernier or McClement even to go with Heja or another 3rd pair dman.

Stewart and Glencross will cost more, but I do think we like Glencross a lot if he agrees to come here (watch me flip out when he goes to the Caps...:)).

I guess either would be ok though McClement and D.Moore seem a bit too similar whereas Bozak gives you a little more pop there. Trading Zucc would even the salary thing but being a FA obviously theyd want a 2nd and b prospect at least.
Yeah if the Caps get Glencross they will be pretty stacked.
