When I hear people or writers talk about a "bad' loss, it drives me crazy! There is NO such thing. A win is a win! Say what you want about how bad we played or the other team played worse then us. Who gives a shit? It's a win! In April when we are in a tight race coming down the stretch, I bet this win counts as much as our blowout over the Bulls the other night! And save your breath on the "we should be playing better then this" crap. We are the youngest team in the L (Raef doesn't count) and we are going to be up and down all year. I bet this team will learn more from last nights win then they will from the Chicago game.

I'm with you, Sac should hold there heads up high . . . no such thing as a bad loss.

And the Blazers loss to Phx . . . not just a good loss, but a great loss. :D

Re: There is NO such thing as a bad loss!

Do you mean that there isn't such thing as a bad win? Either way...

I agree man, a win is a win and we have a good record and are playing better than expected. While we played poorly, i was impressed that we pulled this game out and won just like with the Minnesota game. Sacramento came to play and we didn't, but we won. That shows character.

Ah DAMNIT!!!!!! I went through all that and didn't even get the thread title right!! I meant win! Nevermind!

Re: There is NO such thing as a bad loss!

There are always a few games each season which are like this, and which will drive you crazy.

What I would reminds folks is, sometimes your team has a game like this, and you happen to get the W. The thing is, a game like we had last night, also happened to Utah last night, and they ended up losing.

I'll take the W, and wait for a couple of games to erase the memory of that one, and be good with it.

Well we all see how HCP's life is. Just accepts losses so easy, because there is no such thing as a bad loss. When his wife will leave him... big deal, not a bad loss. parents hate him? don't cry to HCP because its not a bad loss. When we finally ban him from this board, not a bad loss for any parties.

You are such a philosophizer HCP.

Go back to herding your sheep boy!

Re: There is NO such thing as a bad loss!

HCP, serious question....

Why should fans accept our team playing poorly just because they're young? If you look at most of the dissenting posts, they aren't about Batum or Oden or Rudy (notice I said most), because most recognize that they're rookies, they're adjusting, and they will have up and down nights.

This is Roy's 2nd year of being "the Big Two"...they don't get passes for "being young". They're the leaders of our team, and they don't get to take games off or not know what they're doing on the court. Roy isn't. LMA is shooting horribly, and yet (except for a few occasions, like that stretch against SAC) he's not going inside, he's not crashing boards, and he's not playing great D. He doesn't get a pass.

Travis is in his 6th year in the league. He doesn't get the "young player who doesn't know what to do" excuse. You should know that at the end of the game you don't have the handles to be going one-on-three for a crazy shot with 7 seconds still left on the shot clock. You should know that the ball should be in the hands of your all-star, or your PG, or the Spanish guy with handles. Or you pull it back and call a play, so everyone knows what you're doing. He didn't.

So if Salmons makes that 8-footer from the paint, it's a bad loss...but since it rimmed off, then we played well? Huh?

Close this thread!

Re: There is NO such thing as a bad loss!

We've come a long way as a team if we are complaining about a win. Think back 2 years ago when we couldn't buy a win. We shot bad, turned the ball over, and we still grinded out a win.

we're good at grindeding

Re: There is NO such thing as a bad loss!

for a nominal fee, I could fix the thread title ;) :D

Re: There is NO such thing as a bad loss!

HCP was just using his post as a metaphor. His message was good (the win last night), but the execution of that message left much to be desired - fucked up the title! (ugly win). Still, lets focus on the message, not HCP's downfalls. You're deep, man.

I didn't realize I had any downfalls.

Well you see HCP, normally the saying is: there is no such thing as a bad win. In this case, you feel there is no such thing as a bad loss . . . do I have this right? Becuase if I have this right, we can start talking about some of your downfalls. :D

Nope not at all, I've known HCP for years and know the effort he has put into learning the language, it's refreshing to know there are guys out there like him. Just poking a little fun at his mistake!

LoL i liked that post

There is no such thing as a bad win IMO, but there is as a bad loss. A win is a win either way, but getting blowed out in a "bad loss" can really bring confidence down.

... or - it can whip you into taking your job seriously - as clearly happened to the Blazers after the Lakers game and to the Bulls after the Blazers game.

That's all great and everything, but HCP has spoken: "There is NO such thing as a bad loss!"
