Even if we get a good pg... its very unlikely we get the 8th seed. And for what to get killed by OKC. The blazers needed to be at least the 7th seed if they wanna go out and get an impact player. Too many games back at this point. Season is pretty much toast unless u believe in miracles. I really think the only reason they signed joel was to have a replacement when they deal camby. I mean imagine trading for nash and STILL missing the playoffs? That would be a new low.

Well I don't see it that way. If we get Nash now, then we will have a much better product to watch. Regardless if we make the playoffs or not; there will be immediate hope. Also, there is time for Nash to fall in love with this city and fans. There is a reason why so many players enjoy it here once they arrive. Nash is a leader and still arguably the top 5 pg in the league right now. I worry Phoenix will deal him to another team and we lose out once again on a pg. We need to take chances and get Nash.

This summer we will still have cap space. So we will still have flexibility to retool the rest of the roster. We could trade for Nash, then sign patty mills as the back up point.

There was never any sense in getting Nash.

Why? Because he's old? He has an expiring contract. If it doesn't work, then you don't have to sign him. At this point, if we can't find a team that will trade us a player for Felton, we should just waive him and pick up mills.

It is very likely we get the 8th seed right now - without making any moves.

Too many games back at this point.

3.5 games separate the 4th through 9th teams in the Western Conference.

No, it wouldn't. Keeping Felton on this roster after the trade dead line would be much worse.

Stop Whining.

Go Blazers.

I agree. It's like people think trading for Nash will somehow destroy our cap space. If Wallace is one trading piece, then does it really hurt our cap? The way Wallace has been playing, why would he opt out? He is guaranteed 12 mil next season, which is far more than his play warrants this summer. He can just as easily not opt out and play for his contract next season.

All it would take is a 5 game winning streak and suddenly were in the thick of homecourt advantage again. This season everyone is so close its insane so this fatalist attitude that even with a change we can't make the playoffs is just historical. Heck its not out of the question that we could still make it with no changes what so ever.
I'm not in favor of making changes just to make changes though. No reason to sacrifice capspace to try and bolster our shot at the playoffs. If we make it to the playoffs cool if not we have a valuable pick to trade or use.

but is it worth is to do that for 30 games and give up some talent we could at least trade for other pieces with a future here - picks or players. No it is NOT worth it mags unless he comes fairly cheap, and that is a fantasy IMO

It's not that Rhal. It's the total lack of effort. That's why things look gloomy for many fans. If we were busting our ass out there, then there is hope. The way this team has been playing lately has me thinking there is something seriously wrong. They don't have that fire of "Wanting to win". What the fuck happened to Matthews and Crawford's "We play for each other"?

I wish Portland would trade Felton to the L*kers for their TPE and a pick. I think that would be a solid trade for both teams. PA could kick in some cash since it would send the L*kers over the tax thresh hold

10 mil PER isn't worth it? What if we used Wallace as one of the biggest trading pieces in getting him? I have serious doubts that Wallace will opt out of his contract this summer. There is no way he gets even close to 12 mil for next season. Why not play another year and work to get a bigger contract? So in other words, if Wallace was the trading piece, then Felton (we will never use him again) for Nash and Frye; then it would really mean we got Nash for 3 mil more than what we are on the books for. And 3 mil for a 38 year old 23 PER PG is cheap, IMO.

We will still have plenty of cap room this summer to offer another free-agent as well.

So you deal Batum for him, he doesn't work out, and you let him walk at the end of the year?

Fuck no! Only way that I would ever support a deal for Nash, would not use Batum. Anyone that thinks he is worth that risk is insane.

Mags.....What free agents? What free agents that matter are going to want to come to Portland? Cap space is great in theory, but it don't have the same impact here as it does in NY. LA, Chi or Mia

I don't believe in cap space for free agents either; but it is in response to others that want the cap space. But... I do believe in cap space to have the flexibility to take on larger contracts in trades. TE's are valuable nowadays.

Wallace will opt out, he may not get over 12m a year but something like 5 years 40 mill or 4 years 33m isn't out of the question. Its going to be a lot like the Richard Jefferson scenario.

Our team has given up on the coach and it has shown but I just haven't given up on the team to the point that even if we make changes were screwed.

He can get that next season though. That would be his contract year.

But see, you keep talking about trading for him ... that takes sending assets out and there are precious few of them. Let's say you trade Nic Batum and Camby (to make salaries work), Nash decides to depart during the summer and then you enter next season with what? "Not a goddamn thing" is the answer you're looking for.

I will never give up on this team and if I didn't give a shit, then I really wouldn't care. Hell why the fuck would I even be in these forums unless I truly cared about our Blazers? I want a winning product; but more importantly, I want a team I can be proud of. If we get beat by a better team, playing 100% effort, I am totally fine with it. My problem is this team looks like they don't give a rats ass about winning. Or at least caring enough to play hard every night.

Yeah you can blame the "shortened season" but I'm seeing many other teams in the league giving 100% effort on the same shortened season.

That is the asking price; stop fooling yourself. The Blazers don't have the leverage because Phoenix knows the Blazers are desperate for a point guard and they aren't desperate to trade Nash.

I will not condone or support Batum being used for Nash or Rondo. I am hoping management could get it done without Batum. Maybe E will instead. If that isn't a possibility, then I'm fine with it not happening.

this blazer team is 100% not making the playoffs as is

this blazer team is 98% not making the playoffs with a trade

Wallace is a contract they may jump for, IMO. What if Nash asked to be traded to Portland (I know it's a dream)? Why can't E. Will, Wallace, Rhino and Felton be worth Nash, Frye and Warrick/Childress? We unload a few of their bad contracts and get serviceable role players that already know Nash.

And they get a pile of shit. In all honesty, Mags, Phoenix would be better off dealing him to the L*kers for a TPE and a pick than anything we could offer. The TPE wouldn't work straight up, so they might need a third team involved. Orlando, LAL and Phoenix could swap where LAL get Howard, Nash and Hedo for Bynum and Gasol going to Orlando. Phoenix getting TPE's and picks from both

I guess we will see which offer Phoenix takes.

The Blazers are about to experience a serious losing streak. Check their schedule. It's over. I just hope they don't let Nate McMillan within 100 miles of the draft room.

Well one positive will be Nate is gonna get fired. If this team is 2-3 games under .500 in the next 10 games; he's a goner.
