Things are going well with Henrik Lundqvist and he could be back in the next two weeks

8:15PM: Pierre McGuire said of Lundqvist, “Working out, taking shots to the lower part of his body. The Rangers think he is closer to coming back than not coming back.” Pierre said that his conditioning levels are good.

8:06PM: The Rangers say that Lundqvist is being evaluated all the time and that there is no time table for his return. (Zipay)

7:52PM: Bob McKenzie was on NHL Live on NBCSN and said that “it wouldn’t surprise me” if Henrik Lundqvist is back in a Rangers lineup in 10-14 days.

Bob said that Lundqvist saw the doctors last week and that it was “very encouraging” and that the vascular injury looks like it is “healing up nicely.”

Great news if it works out that way. 2 weeks from tonight we host the Hawks. If he is back for that game he will miss only 5 more games after tonight. Including the Hawks game we'd have 14 games left for Hank to get comfortable and get his timing back. Would be perfect if he was back that game.

10:57PM: Bob McKenzie said on NBCSN AFTER the Rangers loss to the Red Wings, “Seems to be trending in the right direction, the Rangers are not saying anything other than he is constantly being evaluated but the fact of the matter is that he saw the doctor last week and there seemed to be some positive indications that the injury is healing so much so that Henrik Lundqvist, in the last 7-10, has been able to get on the ice. He hasn’t practiced with the team but the mere that he was able to get on the ice and subsequently take shots from shooters on the ice is a really encouraging thing.”

Bob continued, “It’s really difficult to put a timeline on when he might play or when he is medically cleared because the Rangers, if anything, are going to err on the side of caution. They have done very well in King Henrik’s absence, Cam Talbot has played well, they got a win out of Mackenzie Skapski so there is no rush to get Lundqvist back into the fold. But if it continues to progress at the same rate that it seems to be going, maybe not out of the question, just speculation on my part, that in a couple of weeks he could be medically cleared or in a position where if the Rangers wanted to play him, they could.”

Interesting tidbit, Henrik was on Live with Kelly and Michael today (Henrik you stud) and mentioned that the blood vessel injury actually occurred when he snapped his neck back after getting hit, and it wasn't the puck itself that caused it. In fact, the strained blood vessel is in the back of his neck, and not the contact area. Maybe that's why the doctors missed it early on.
