Forced me to read the countless amounts of asshole Rangers fans on HF who think McDonagh is one of the best defenseman in the game when in reality, he hasn't played like that since the finals. They expect an insane return for him. I'd jump for joy for RNH and the 4th pick in the draft of McDonagh for Draisaitl and a a second.

I was looking at this undrafted free agent the Rangers signed in Michael Joly. Numbers wise he was on par with Duclair. I'm guess his speed is not on the same level. Size wise he's about the same. This move he made was pretty absurd. He was over-aged this year so they obviously had something to do with his numbers. However, that's not always a bad thing. You should dominate as a 2o year old in juniors.

Nice to see the Rangers taking some chances on some of these UFA's that put up big numbers. Maybe they will find another Zucc.

Sounds like they will be well in the mix for Vesey, which i originally didnt think they had much of a shot with. That would be a huge get and someone cheap to bolster things.

Well, an American kid might not want to play in Canada and money is money. So if the Rangers are paying, then Vesey might sign here. With Matthews, Marner and Nylander the Leafs are stacked up front. They still suck on defense and in goal.

I think Hrvik will be a fixture on the 4th line next year. If AV doesn't play him and McIlrath, he needs to be fired quickly at the start of the season by our useless GM. Glass must not play one minute on this team next season. He destroys any offense the 4th line might generate. I have no idea why this organization would want to keep Hayes. He's far too slow for AV's system and the East which is about speed. He should be sent out West.

One player not talked about I would take an enormous run at would be Duchene in Colorado. He and Roy clearly do not like each other. He won 57 % of his draws and has great speed. He would allow the organization to move Stepan and keep McDonagh if they wished. You might have to give up Nash, Hayes and Klein to get him. Maybe you get a second rounder back with him. Honestly, I would do that. You could then use Stepan to get back a young, NHL ready right handed defenseman and a lot more in the right deal.

Draws killed this team in the playoffs and late in games this season and Stepan who sucks on them was a huge part of that. The Av's are drafting 10th so they probably will go D. Money wise the Av's would not be adding much more than 4-5 million and they have a ton of cap room.

HFs new rankings have Shestorykin at #2 and Halverson all the way down at 16 which is way low. He's even listed below Skapski.lol Fogarty is too low at 19, as hes someone who has a legit shot of sticking.

Yeah, posted this in another thread. Halverson at 16 was laughable. Guy was a moron who rated those prospects. Fogarty will never be more than a 4th liner. Problem is his skating isn't tremendous. However, that doesn't mean he can't become a good 4th liner. He has the size. He's good on faceoffs. He is a smart player. I'd rather see a 4th line of Hrvik-Fogarty-Weise. Weise is a guy I think would come home to NY. He's only 27. He would be a perfect guy to mentor those 2 players on the 4th line. That could score some. Weise is also a guy you could move up to the third line once in a while.

Of course I'd love to see Martin-Fogarty-Weise. That 4th line would be insanely good. Hrvik is a guy they either need to play or trade. Not fair to the kid at this point. He can play on a 4th line in the NHL. So if not ours, give him a chance elsewhere. I think he would be perfect in Edmonton. They need more role players like him.

Yeah i think Fogarty can at least become a real solid 4th liner. Perhaps maybe 3rd but that may be pushing it. 2nd round talent drafted in the 3rd. They also have McIlrath listed still as a prospect(10th) which he sort of isnt a this stage. Weise would certainly be a nice pickup again.

I tried to tell thickheads here all year that our 4th line was a huge reason the team went to the finals but they dismissed it. Well, our 4th line sucked all season and couldn't kill penalties for crap and it was a huge negative on the team.

They kept Domonic Moore around a bit too long, and Fast imo is a fringe NHL regular on a top tier team. He works hard but has physical limitations. We'll see how Lindberg keeps progressing but it's possible he taps out on the 4th line.

Don't know what your problem with Fast is. He was one of the best players in the playoffs 2 years ago. He's a righty shot. He is a very good PK guy. Problem with the PK unit was the defenseman sucked almost all season and some of the other forwards were lousy on that unit. He's not a fringe player. He's a very good role player. This is also only his second year. In his second year he had 30 points and was a + 9 if you value that stat at all which can be bogus at times. Other than the defense and PK unit, the biggest problem is always the same. Their top 2 lines don't score consistently.

Useless GM needs to fire the dumbazzzz coach if he doesnt bench the lazy players who are old and overpaid in favor of the new young players...who five years from now will be the lazy and overpaid players preventing the new young toys in the organization from playing. From what Brooks is reporting lately, Girardi isn't going anywhere as the organization thinks he's just been overworked and still recovering from injuries. I think theyre just afraid to let him go from a personal standpoint of him having been here so long, which is very shortsighted. Maybe you give him one more year but no way can he play out the whole deal.

I hated the McIlrath treatment and I posted as much. Ive also been posting about the fourth line for two seasons now. Nothing has changed on that end, the fourth line is a legitimate disgrace to hockey. I dont think Dom Moore lost a step, I think he was weighed down by a literal anchor on his left side. I doubt Moore will be back which is the right call, but as long as Glass is here he's playing and it is a big problem. Yeah Hrivik would be a nice addition to the fourth line but he is hardly a game changing player that is worth firing a coach over.

Which is where my issue is. Trying to fire/trade everybody. It just doesnt work like that, and it makes it seem like nobody here actually likes the team. I like rooting for these guys and I hope Gorton finds the right moves to improve the team. If he sits on his ass for another season yeah I'd say he's useless, but let's give the guy an offseason first before the pitch forks come out.

Girardi isn't going anywhere because there's nowhere for him to go. Nobody will take him. I was hoping we could land Shattenkirk and use Girardi on the 3rd pair but looks like Brooks shot that down. If G isnt going anywhere Gorton needs to find a taker for Staal. That will be his first real test.

When young players like Lindberg, McIlrath and Hrvik played, out played these other clowns, he either benched them or banished them to the minors. It was almost hard to believe how incompetent he was last season as a coach. McIlrath played one playoff game. The team won. He didn't play much but the team won. AV banished for the rest of playoffs. That's just incompetent coaching. Sam and Joe talked about the Penguins saying they were aware of McIlrath out there and took notice of him. AV screwed that kid over all year for no reason. AV started to do things that Torts did as a coach here which ultimately got him fired. I remember watching Hrvik come up and thinking the kid really brought something to the 4th line. He banished him to the minors. Complete incompetence.

The Boyle meltdown with Brooks was very telling to me how the old fart vets ruled this team under AV. Boyle played like crap almost all season and felt he shouldn't be criticized by a writer. He was a joke and AV played him time and time again. Incompetence. Same with Glass. His idiotic love affair with a player that isn't a good PK player, can't score and ruins any offense of the 4th line is mind boggling. I was a big AV fan. However, last year he was a moron. He consistently refused to put the best lineup on the ice during the season and playoffs. That's how you get fired as a coach.

Like many others on this board I was impressed with AV's first season taking the Rangers to the Stanley Cup but the bottom line is AV's best season came with Tort's roster, since then this team has been heading in the wrong direction while AV neglects developing young talent instead opting to play old no talents that no other NHL team wants.

I've already said this, but to me AV is to the Rangers what Gruden was to the Bucs. He brought in an offensive gameplan to a solid defensive team, but after every year of being there/here, the team gets/got worse. Hopefully he can turn it around, but as long as he stays loyal to older, less talented players and refuses to replace his failure associate coach Arneil, I just don't see this team getting better. AV has a track record of being loyal to older vets so I don't see him changing that. I also doubt he pushes for Arneil to be replaced, instead choosing to stick up for him I bet and not wanting him to be fired.

Don't worry. According to some here. AV is a genius and all our players suck and nobody wants them. Classic Rangers fans. They love the losing players on losing teams and think their players who have won a lot of games and playoff games all suck and have no value.
