2015 = $66.5M for A-Rod ($21M), Teixeira ($22.5M) & Sabathia ($23M)

2016 = $67.5M for A-Rod ($20M), Teixeira ($22.5M) & Sabathia ($25M)

2017 = $$45M for A-Rod ($20M) & Sabathia ($25M) vesting option with a $5M buyout

What a f'king waste. Think what this kind of money each year could get us.

...though I'm not crazy about those contracts, I don't think it cripples the Yanx because it certainly didn't prevent the Steins from spending tons of money this past off season.

...and oh, CC can forget about his vesting option for 2017.

At least the Yankees aren't the only ones. The Angels gave Pujols a ridiculous deal until 2021.

...yeah, and the Phillies also have their share of bad contracts.

Oh don't get me wrong I'm not saying we're the ONLY one's I just don't give a rats ass about the other teams that got screwed. It just bothers me that for the next couple of years we're stuck with these albatross's where that money could have gone for more productive uses.

And yeah Ron you're 100% right about CC vesting option.

So come the Summer of 2017 the'll be no more Tex, no more CC & possibly (God I hope not) a 42 year old washed up $20M bench player.

...I don't think ARod will be playing next year for the Yanx, much less 2017.

I know it's not popular but I would take Arod at third next year compared to another stop gap option.

...I really don't think he'll be able to perform well enough to even earn a roster spot...he was already declining badly, and being away from the game for essentially a year and a half will make it so difficult to readjust that I just don't think he'll be able to play.

Come on....it'll be like catching lightning in a syringe.

With that in mind I'd like to believe that he's staying in game shape & spending a lot of time in the batting cages. If for no other reason but to try & prove that he can still perform. Remember we're dealing with an egomaniac.

This thread inspired song #31 just posted

...hell, I can still hit in a batting cage...but against mlb pitching?...different story. Getting into playing shape when you're 40 is not easy when you've been away as long as ARod has. He's also been away from the grind of traveling with the team...he'll also have to pretty much relearn the pitchers he'll be facing.

...ARod is toast as far as playing competently goes.

Yeah good point, I mean even my 60 year old crippled ass could hit a 70MPH pitch in the batting cage. It'll hurt, but I could do it.

The Halos, Trout, Pujols aaannnnddd Hamilton too, high effing paid....wild card bound? or AL West Pennant ?????

Crawford, H. Ramirez, Kemp, Gonzo very highly paid, but atop the NL West...

Alot of teams are bogged down in mired contracts, the royal elite of today's gen....!

If the Yankees plan on cutting A-Rod off at the knees the'll have to do it prior to spring training, because if he gets to play in ST & is hitting good its going to be hard to justify cutting him lose.

and all that muscle mass, will be flabby fat....

gaining strength is one thing, getting one's hitting timing down against MLB Pitching another thing....

I agree my friend we'll see. To be continued.

And yet somehow Boston was able to evade most of theirs with that trade to the Dodgers...
