When applicable, I'm rooting for all teams below us to lose, as opposed to rooting for teams above us to lose. I'm not yet confident enough in our team to root otherwise.

Case in point: I'm rooting for the Rockets to beat the Jazz tonight.

I'm definitely rooting for the Rockets to beat the Jazz too. But I'm also rooting for the Nuggets to lose since I'd like to stay competitive in the division race, not that winning the division means anything whatsoever. It still seems cool. Knicks playing Suns close right now. Go Knicks! Gallinari is lookin good.

I hear ya. If the Nuggz were playing the Suns tonight, I wonder if I might actually be tempted to root for Phoenix. :dunno:

Yep, getting to be that time of the year, Blazer fans!!

Winning the division means home court, baby! At least in the first round.

No it doesn't. Winning the division just guarantees a 4th seed at least. If the 5th seed still has a better record than you they get home court advantage. See Rockets/Utah series from previous years.

You're right...I spaced that. Man, with the Lakers seemingly far and away the best team out West, I would rather be a 6 seed than a 4/5 without home court.

I have no interest in other teams, or how they do.

It matters not.

mavs gave up 79 points in 2 quarters to a team we just held to 85 in 4

Yet you have enough interest in this thread, which discusses what "matters not" to post in it?

I care, man. The wins it takes to make the playoffs can vary pretty substantially from year to year. But you don't have to wait until the end of the year to tell how it's looking. Following the other teams gives you a good idea along the way. When my favorite team is expected to be on the cusp, like they are this year, I certainly don't want to wait until the end to look at the standings and see if we made the cut.

What if they all pass us for a playoff spot? Does it matter then?

Rooting for (or against, in this case) various teams is all part of the fun....is it not?

I root for all eight of the other to nine teams in the West to lose. I root extra hard for the Lakers, Nuggets and Jazz to lose, the Nuggets and Jazz because they are in our division, the Lakers because they are the Lakers. If two of the other five are playing, I usually root for the team with the worse record. I also root for the Clippers and Knicks to lose, as long as they aren't playing one of the other eight teams, so we get slightly better second round draft picks.

Is it just me or is every eastern conference squad your second favorite team now?

I guess you won't be weighing in on who should be traded since you have previously mentioned you don't watch any other teams or players.
