ESPN’s Thorpe Ranks the Rookies

September 20, 2008, 4:54 am David Thorpe writes ESPN’s weekly Rookie Watch. In his first preseason ranking, Thorpe has Brook Lopez at #9, Chris Douglas-Roberts at #27 and Ryan Anderson at #28. Thorpe writes Lopez will need to develop “his touch shots from 5 to 15 feet off the pass from penetration” if Lawrence Frank’s dribble-drive motion offense is to succeed. He’ll also have to “mix in his back-to-the-basket stuff”.

lol its funny how our 40th pick is ranked higher than our 21st... damn i hope ryan anderson proves em wrong!

Can't take this too seriously. He is basing his ratings on three games he watched at Orlando and on the deadline he had to write something. If you click on "more ..." it says that Anderson and Brook need more body strength and have lousy games when their shots don't fall. :sigh: Me too.

No, three games he watched in UTAH, all of which the Nets lost.

On Brook:

On Day 3 in Orlando, he struggled to hold his positions inside due to his weak lower body. But he had some of the best post finishes of the week, and looks like a guy who will be a force inside as he strengthens.

ya some games are from orlando... the rookie predictions get more accurate as the season progress... DUh :P lol i just made an obvious statement !!! haha

thats about right. I think Lopez has a shot at the all rookie 2nd team actually. Oden, Love and Beasley will be on the 1st team most likely
