WARNING! If you don't like hypothetical trade threads, then good for you and get out of this one.
With Outlaw going down to injury we may see KP's hand forced in a consolidation trade. This one works on ESPN trade checker which is broken right now in so far as you can't display trades to other people. Try it yourself, it works.
Portland Trail Blazers
Out:
Steve Blake
Travis Outlaw
Rudy Fernandez
Jerryd Bayless
Martell Webster
In:
Mike Conley Jr.
Darrell Arthur
Marko Jaric
Shane Battier
Houston:

Memphis:
In:

Out:
Mike Conley Jr.

Marko Jaric
H. Haddadi
New Depth chart for Portland:
PG Miller/Conley
SG Roy/Webster/Battier/Jaric
SF Battier/Roy/Cunningham/Jaric
PF LMA/Arthur/Howard
C Oden/Przybilla
That looks pretty solid to me. With Outlaw’s injury and our depth issues it might be time to pull the trigger. In my opinion this solves all of our problems at once. Haddadi is a decent backup to Oden with a little upside remaining. Arthur is a decent young big to backup Aldridge. Conley is our starting PG of the future. Battier holds down the fort until Batum is up and ready and can slowly move into a key reserve position.
This solves all of our problems and resolves playing time and positional issues. I think it makes sense for all teams as well. Memphis makes out ahead in talent. Memphis would then be able to slide Mayo over to PG as he professes he wants to have a shot at and can have the Spanish Duo in Gasol and Fernandez. They also have a promising PG/SG in Bayless to provide scoring off the bench. Finally, Memphis shed’s salary from Jaric and picks up two expirings who are serviceable in Outlaw and Blake. They may opt to resign Outlaw in the off season if he comes back, if not he’s an expiring.
For Houston they get a decent Center in Haddadi and a cheap defensive SF in Webster to replace Battier and compete with Budinger for starting SF. Haddadi makes up for Yao a bit, at least on the defensive and rebounding end. If Yao comes back they have a serviceable backup in Haddadi who has a surprising 19.1 PER rating. I think Houston has to consider it. Chuck Hayes is an amazing defender, but he isn't a real center and Adelman must know that. Haddadi has shown some flashes and might really give Houston a boost. I think this is a reasonable trade and might require a bit more sugar for Houston (picks, Cash, the rights to Euro's like Claver or Kopponen, or maybe another young player from Memphis.)
Well what do you guys think?
