Tanaka has pitched very well especially in his last three starts.
Just hope this guy stays healthy, if so, he'll be a big asset and positive force over the long haul and can be expected to give a good outing in big games vs good teams.
Last three starts he seems to be picking up where he left off last year down the stretch.
Aug -Sept, 10 GS, he pitched at least 6 inn in 9 straight games (7 or more IP in four G) allowing 4 ER twice, less than 3 ER in five of those starts -
One game over that span where he failed to pitch at least 6 inn and allowed 4 ER was his last start of the season vs Boston when the Yanks were already eliminated.

He may not be a top "ace", may be overpaid,
but he is an excellent pitcher, tough competitor.
I like him.

He is currently the best pitcher on the Yankee staff. I just hope this team can score some runs for him tonight.

No doubt - and I forgot to mention in above post for what it's worth, during last year's stretch drive Aug-Sept, he started 3 games vs Toronto: 22 IP, 3 ER - including 7 scoreless inn Sept 13 cutting the lead to 3.5 games.

Okay, that was last year.....I know, but he is the genuine article and the Yanks absolutely need him to stay healthy. Any chances they have of making the playoffs probably depends on it. imo

Yankees have called up OF Ben Gamel from Triple A as per Jack Curry.

Good. Kid really came on last year at AAA...hasn't shown alot of power but gets his hits.
I believe he was one the kids the Yanks protected instead of Chase Whitely.... good......let him get his feet wet.
Also noticed Judge doing well .286 BA/ .813 OPS, leads team in TB, HRs and tied with Sanchez for RBI lead 14.
He's still striking out a bit too much.....this is probably the only thing which is a bit of concern.
Sanchez also doing okay, currently has a humble .259 BA but still showing power, 2nd on team in HRs, and TB, has a good .809 OPS.

And if I were Headley, I would watch my ass.

Tonight's starting lineup...

CF - Ellsbury (271)
2B - Castro (284)
C - McCann (278)
1B - Teixeira (224)
DH - Beltran (261)
RF - Ackley (118)
LF - Hicks (.067)
SS - Gregorius (224)
3B - Torreyes (375)

Hitters 6 & 7 are batting a combined .092 And hitters 6, 7 & 8 are batting a combined 136. We better hope somebody produces big.

...Gamel is a backup for Beltran and Hicks. I don't look for him to get much playing time if at all...Gardner won't be out long.

...rah rah.

Best end results for tonights game: Offense provided for Tank, seat Headleys butt, kick Oriole butt, return to new York with heads out of asses.

Well Michael as you can see you've got one of your wishes already, Headley is not in the line up tonight.

First career start at Camden Yards for Tanaka.
Good test for Tank - cozy park, Baltimore has a few dangerous hitters, we need this win for 2/3 and get back on the good foot.

At this point after 5 straight starts of only getting 2 runs each game for support & none tonight through 5 innings, Tanaka has to be wondering...."Why can't you f'king guys get me any runs".

Headley on Bench, Tank pitching well, offense back to normal so it would seem.

Tanaka pitches a gem and this offense goes back to normal with no runs on three hits.

This is funny, It just showed Headley getting a bat & Kay said he'll probably pinch hit in the 9th. My question would be..."Pinch hit for who?" the guy sucks.

Come on you balless bunch of yankee imposters. Get this man some fucking runs. He friggin earned them

And a weak ground ball to second on the 1st pitch. Damn Headley, Torreyes could have done that.

Is it possible w have to put up with headley for another 2 years after this one or will hal bite the bullet and dump this useless piece of shit

ok, thats the topper of stupidity getting picked off second. Send this whole team minus tanaka to triple A

Castro now decides to enter the parade of the bone heads.

Damn Castro, where the fuck were you going.

I don't know or care what they do with him but there's absolutely no way he can be kept here another two years.

You know its hard to get mad at the kid (Castro) since he's the only one on the team hitting but seriously he had no business being off the bag that far.

^^^^^^but at least Tanaka's AAA team mates might actually score some runs for him. :blazerwookie:

Cashman should be fired for this signing by itself. Hal needs to get a gm in here that knows how to acquire talent and build a team. This is as unwatchable a yankee team as I've seen and I go back to 1961. Hope the yanks aren't expecting too much walkup business buying tickets this season to watch this conglomerate of dogshit.
