[video=youtube;CmjebeKov3E]Tiger Woods' temper has been all over the news lately, with armchair psychologists offering all kinds of cheap speculation as to its source: he's playing badly! He's just a competitive guy! And while some of the criticism is just nitpicking -- seriously, who cares if he thumps the turf with a club once in awhile after a bad shot? -- this week at the Deutsche Bank, Tiger has sailed past "expressions of emotion" and straight into Judge Smails-style club-tossing waters.
Below is why it's a good idea to always keep your cool, particularly if you're one of the most famous athletes on the planet: on Friday, a fan caught Tiger hitting an errant tee shot, then slinging his club into the nearby brush. Watch closely here; the action happens in the first five seconds:
Tiger then storms away, leaving his caddy Stevie Williams to search for the lost club.
The powers that be can let Tiger's occasional curse words or club-thumps slide, but are incidents like these going to get the PGA to take a little more active stance on Tiger's behavior? Does he have an obligation to be a role model, or at least to keep a little more of a lid on his temper?
