Well I was looking at it after thinking a few weeks ago that they wouldn't make the playoffs. Then I looked at who they are competing with, and figured it was almost impossible for Portland to not make the playoffs. Houston. New Orleans. Memphis. New Orleans is toast with Paul out. Houston has been playing above their heads all year long. Memphis had been playing well but has started to implode again as of late.

So basically to me, it all rides on Brandon Roy. If Roy plays the second half of the season, the chances of Portland locking in are really good. If he doesn't, it will be a struggle.

If Roy plays and plays well, and the team plays up to it's abilities, all but the top 2 slots are within reach. If he doesn't, we will fight for the #7 or 8 slots. All depending on if PHX trades STAT.

Wait, am I to gather that the trade made by our GM, one of only two in the league so far (boy, those other GMs must really be committed to "their guys", mustn't they?), might actually have improved the Blazers? Is that the implication? Would that mean that praise for said GM might be in order? And perhaps an admission that the avalanche of bitching about our do-nothing GM was uncalled for? Also a commitment to shut the hell up for a while?
