It's when they don't say anything that I start worryingGreat minds think alike.....or so my wife says......
My band used to cover In the Skillet....probably my favorite tune by them....really fun band...I loved Jessie Johnson's solo albums...really great funk rock guitaristI was probably the only kid in my entire school to have a copy of that album. And I used to know an old hippy chick who was
obsessed with Morris Day (as well as Marc Bolan.) We meet interesting people in this life.
bit of trivia....I used to know Tommy Bolan...dated a girl from his school in high school and played sports against him...great guitarist...we were both playing high school dances in the same places in the late 60sI was probably the only kid in my entire school to have a copy of that album. Albert King used to hire Tommy as a sideman on occasion...when I knew him we were both in cover bands playing Cream and Animals covers...we grew up about 40 miles apart and he was a couple years older than me..Yeah. Sad story him. I am not so much a fan of his rock work as his jazz stuff with Billy Cobham on Spectrum. A friend called me last week and asked me if I had any of his rock stuff, and I said I didn't sadly. As for funk rock, I have my favorites but I stick to more to mainstream rock and R&B. Before I royally fucked my hand up my idols were guys Cornell Dupree, Mabon "Teenie" Hodges and Ernie Isley. Prince was REALLY listening to Ernie!
