A bunch of business run their card swipes through “square” or another payment app, and when you go to pay, there will be like 3 buttons.
“Tip 15%, tip 20%, tip 30%” or whatever. It’s convenient I guess, but it’s just in your face out there that if you don’t do the biggest tip you are a fucking miserly skinflint.

I got a haircut the other day, like $28. They have one of those square tablets to process cards, their high end is 33% I believe, which I always hit, they keep me looking fresh. BUT, I also bought some matte pomade , like $25, and when he rang me up, the haircut and the product were both together on the bill. For whatever reason it bugged me, I told him I wanted to tip on the haircut but not the product. He felt what I was saying, but still kind of annoying.
I wouldn't tip for food to go.Tipping at a sit down restaurant is one thing, but now I see that damn tip line for everything.
Picking up some Chinese food to go, should you tip?
I see a tip or gratuity line pretty much everywhere I go now, and I don't think you should tip when you have had zero interaction with the staff and you don't know where the money is going. The part that really gets me is when I'm getting food from a food cart. Why would I tip an owner/operator???
I went to this spot (burgerRim) and they reversed the fucking numbers so a 25% tip was the first option.
Man, you have a jaded view of the service industry. My employees work hard (for minimum wage and above [which is at least $12/hour in the city and rising annually until it reaches $15/hour in 2000-something) and get generously tipped. Tips certainly don't make my life any better. In fact, on top of payroll taxes, I pay taxes on the tips they get!
Speaking of wage increases - fast food is becoming ridiculously expensive. $10 for a combo meal at Jack in the Box? $10 for a sandwich at Subway? At least if I buy a pizza it will probably get me several meals, so the end price isn't so bad per meal, but I simply cannot swallow $10 for a fucking shitty burger. The cost of soda has become so stupid expensive, and it hardly costs them anything to sell. $2.50 for a large soda????
Fast food is going to price itself out. It used to be cheap and fast, despite being low quality food. Now it's expensive and low quality. On the bright side it will probably force people into cooking for themselves more often.
This was my problem with the minimum wage increases from the beginning. The price of everything goes up to balance out the wage increases, but my salary did not go up. At least not THAT much. So the cost of living goes up, but the wages for the middle class did not go up to meet those rising costs. Gonna make me cook more, and I hate cooking.
Most sandwiches at Subway are $4.99 according to my wife who's been buying several of them for me lately. I think it's Burger King that has a two sandwich deal for $6. I don't drink soft drinks unless they're free so I never get the Full Meal Deal or whatever it's called these days. If I want french fries, I order them separately.Speaking of wage increases - fast food is becoming ridiculously expensive. $10 for a combo meal at Jack in the Box? $10 for a sandwich at Subway? Geez, you can eat more than a 6 inch sub? Are you a teenager?Aren't those the six inch subs? I got a foot long Italian BMT a week or two ago and it was like $10.

My wife bought a 6 inch sub for lunch today and it was loaded, all for $3.99. She even thru in a buck tip which was greatly appreciated. Got that one in Tigard. The Lake Oswego sub place was out of Italian bread. Not a teenager.... but I sometimes forget that I don't have the metabolism of a teenager![]()

I can get a 6 inch steak sub from Subway with everything on it including extra of anything they've got, except extra cheese, that I want for $4.99. Yesterday I had the spicy Italian with extra everything including a toasted bun for $3.99. They only charge extra if you want extra provolone. I like mine with only pepperoni so they doubled up on that since passed on the salami.Me too.
Subway or sub place? If subway, the prices vary depending on the type you want.

I'm telling you, it's a good deal.
I get a fast food hamburger about twice a year. That's all my gut can take. Probably twice a year too often.
Ya'll thought i was joking when i dropped $14 for a burrito at chipotle
That's just so silly. You can make 20 burritos for that much money.
