TJ Ford and Jarron Collins to be Blazers soon?

Ford and Collins or Howard is fine by me. Ford is an upgrade at the backup pg from what we usually have. Also, maybe he could give Aldridge a kick in the butt to become better than he is now (hard to imagine since he is on fire, but possible).

The Blazers have been really frustrating me Lately when they (mathews, miller, roy) break down the defense, it collapses on them and then they Don't Pass! The Hawks game was uggly, there was so many wide open shooters who went unnoticed. The Blazers need to be on and off the ball quicker. Hopefully TJ can bring that.

One cause is tired forwards who are conserving their fouls. If we add a big man or Camby returns, the guards will find their targets better.

Honestly, I'd rather have Arroyo than Ford...Arroyo is a better shooter and would do better in our offense!

Also, if the player is currently on an NBA roster, he needs to be placed on waivers by March 1 (Tuesday) to be eligible for the playoffs. (Finley was waived March 1, 2010, by San Antonio and signed a week later by the Celtics.) A player not on an NBA roster can be signed up to the last day of the season (as the Celtics did with Dana Barros in 2004). Rasheed Wallace fits into that category. So, too, would someone like Antoine Walker.

Why? Is it after midnight EST yet? If he and the Pacers agree to a buyout before then, he can still be signed by a new team and play in the playoffs. I don't know the status of those discussions, but I'd be willing to bet that they're going on pretty intensely right about now.

Remember the nosedive we took when we added Strickland and Schrempf late in the season?

We're going to have a lot of trouble integrating a major piece like Wallace, much less two other players. I suspect we'll lose a few games we should have won over the next couple of weeks. Hopefully that one step back will put us two steps forward in the playoffs.

Like I said earlier, I think that was a different situation.

So adding Strickland and Detlef to that team created more problems than it helped. As of now, we don't have an effective backup point guard so I don't see how adding Ford would hurt us, especially since we are already going through a growth period with Wallace and Camby/Roy coming back. Why not add another guy... I don't think it's going to make things any more difficult.

Not sure if he's better, but he's not that much worse. I'd give him a shot on a 10-day contract.

Yep, and on top of that, Damon was already paranoid (too much weed) about losing his minutes to Anthony. When Stickland came in you basically had three guys who had all been starters on their previous teams vying for limited minutes - and they were all PGs, not combo guards. So, it's not like the team could go with one of them at the point and another at SG - especially when there was already a log jam at SG (and SF).

I think Whitsitt just signed Strickland to keep him from signing with a rival. There was a rumor at the time that the Lakers were interested in him. That move backfired as the team totally imploded. They were in 1st place with the best record in the league (42-18) and hadn't lost more than two games in a row all season. They immediately lost 5 in a row, lost 14 of the final 22 games and fell all the way to the 8th seed.

Ditto on Schremp. Pippen had recently come back from an injury. Augmon had been starting, and playing well and the team was winning. Pippen came back and took the starting roll from Augmon. And then Schrempf was signed, creating a log jam with three veteran players all competing for minutes at SF. It didn't help that Augmon wasn't the best "locker room guy" (and that's putting it mildly), which was further compounded by the special treatment Shrempf was given (allowed to skip practices between games to spend time with his family in Seattle).

You bascially had a roster that was two or three deep, with veteran guys who had all been starters and were expecting starter minutes. The situation is much different this time. We are short players and just looking to fill out vacant roster spots with guys to play back-up minutes to RELIEVE our starters from playing 40+ minutes a game. We desparately need big bodies so LaMarcus can rest for more than 2 or 3 minutes a game. Collins gives us another big body who can fill in a few minutes a game and won't bitch about PT. Andre Miller is much more secure and less paranoid that Damon was., It's clear that if Ford (or anyone else) is brought in, it will be to shore up the back-up PG spot, not usurp the starting position from Andre. Patty Mills will be the one displaced, and he doesn't seem like the type who will be a locker room cancer. This team needs help at the back-up 4/5 and PG spots. If this team has any PT issues, it's that guys are playing TOO MANY minutes. That 2000-01 team aleady had guys bitching about insufficient PT before Strickland and Schrempf were added to an already deep roster. Totaly different situation.
