Just some data I read recently & not trying to make any specific points, just sharing.

Recently two NRA members (Bob Barr & Wayne Ross) gave some chilling insight into which weapons and amounts of ammunition they say any american should be allowed to possess under the second amendment.

Handguns - YES
Rifles - YES
Semi-automatic assault weapons (including AR-15s & AK 47s) - YES
Automatic weapons (including machine guns) - YES
Grenades - NO
Bazookas - NO
Tanks - NO
Surface to air missiles - NO
Ammo One magazine (15-17 bullets, which a typical 9-mm handgun can hold) - YES
100 rounds - YES
500 rounds - YES
1,000 rounds - YES
5,000 rounds - YES
7,000 rounds (the same number that terrorists Farook & his wife possessed) YES

What no YES or consideration for Rockets, ( I see they covered Tanks), no Drone's or Prototype V-2 Rockets considered??? How about homeade War Heads, fk IED's, we will fry these assclowns with Kinetic Energy blasts........No consideration for Light Sabers, and Death Stars...? WTF......

Rob, general question or maybe Tom can answer it. Since I'm a little ignorant on the topic, Why would any public citizen need an AK 47 or a damn machine gun. I mean what would be the purpose of it? IMO these 2 weapons should also rate a NO!

...just my opinion but I'd say the best reason is for the same thing I've said for years, which is, "It's better to have something and not need it than it is to need something and not have it".

...a good example of this is that I have a 4 wheel drive GMC truck ...I generally drive with 2 wheel drive engaged but there have been quite a few times I was glad that I had the little button that engages 4 wheel drive when I do need it.

well the NRA has been opposed to the NFA (national firearm act of 1938) which basically made getting machine guns really difficult due to the attempt to limit the mobsters from getting tommy guns. the law failed miserably...normal citizens didnt have them but the gangsters still got them.

quite a few states permit people to apply for nfa licenses.

As for AR15 and AK47, these are semiauto versions (assault-styled, aka cosmetic only) of these rifles. the select fire/full auto versions are "true assault rifles".

as for ammo....i know lots of people who reload, so they typically do big ammo runs all at once as supplies become available.

Looks like 59 and Tote answered with my own same sentiments or take.

The way I see it, other than what both 59 and Tote, noted is: If all hell breaks loose tomorrow, and Civil Urban War takes over these mean streets, I too want to be armed to the hilts; much better, than my opponents; with more ammo and the very best weapons to defend myself and family. An AR-15 is not a bad 'long distance sniper rifle', to reach out and hit a target long before the target is within striking range of say my house, Wife and family.

One can get off numerous shots with an AR-15, an equalizer of sorts, as well as the Alley Sweeping 18" barrel, 12 shell load, (hold the trigger down constantly, while pumping a shotgun, as fast as possible), and praying it doesn't jam. Double Aught buck, will decapitate a unfriendly foe, who wants to kill me, and all I stand for, or for simply being white; no exaggeration out here in So. Cal.

Name of the game, is to not only out-shoot one's opponent, with accuracy, but over power them with superior armament, they don't have.

Rick, do you recall seeing the North Hollywood Bank Robbery of 1997? The 2 gun men, dressed head to ankle in full bullet proof-dress armament? The Bank Robbers had better weapons, than the LASD and LAPD had in their possession. Remember the gun dealer down the street who handed out AR-15s with every box of bullets he had. That and that alone made the difference, to take out 2 Men with Semi-automatic guns, prior to the Police being armed with the same lethal weapons.

That incident at the gun shop turned the tide, to allow those 2 thugs to meet their maker, as several Cops had been hit, and were trying to defend themselves, with inferior 9mm pistols, and shotguns, that were no match for the Robbers Semi-Automatic Weapons. By the end of that week, the LASD, and LAPD, made the AR-15 a Standard Issue gun, they carry now, (usually in their trunks). Had they not of got quick access to those weapons, the Robbers would still be shooting it out, and taking down the police force that responded in extremely large numbers.........

In other words, if all hell breaks loose, I want to have the enemy in my Crosshairs 1/4 mile out, before they can even see their target, being me......!

Figure, these fks have AK-47 fully automatic rifles, with shit for quality of accuracy. The Chinese and Russian AK's are shit compared to the American Bushmaster........just ask Chris Kyle......!!!~~

Every time you see one of these active shooter incidents, or you watch the news and police/swat go into a building....please note the weapons of choice - the AR15 semiautomatic rifle. Not pistols drawn, not shot guns...either AR's or MP5 submachineguns. Why? because these are the preferred self defense weapons, especially for tight spaces and urban environments. 2A and the Supreme Court (Heller and McDonald) are pretty clear.....citizens have the right to self protection with weapons in common use. And recently both Scalia and Thomas have published detailed background information for lower courts so they fully understand the intent of the court in its rulings. Right now we have a few rogue lower courts that are reinterpreting those 2 cases and we have a pending conflict that will lead to an en bank and a further definition of the 2A...likely in 2017. This is expected to put an end once in for all of the anti-gun agenda of the left.
