Perreault 39 points in 24 games. That's why you don't throw away first round picks like Chuck always wants to do. That's our Panarin replacement. Stud. Othmann. 31 points in 39 AHL games. That's why you don't throw away first round picks like Chuck wants to do. Cuylle 8 G, 6 A without much on his line to help him. That's why you don't throw away second round picks like Chuck wants to do. Sykora 19 in the AHL. 5 G 12 A. That's why you don't throw away second round picks like Chuck wants to do. Henriksson, yes I said it, has 11 points in his last 13 games. Had 17 points last year. Has 15 points this year. It might be clicking for him finally. Second round pick.

Drury is a desperate fuck. This is where if you had an owner paying attention instead of groping women, we would be better off.

Berard 11 points in his last 13 games with 39 shots. Smaller players but there is a role for forwards who are smaller more than defenseman in todays NHL.

So for the trade deadline dump, what do you see drury doing. Prices seem thru the roof at the moment. What would you think with the forwards we have coming of a kakko and miller for Tarasenko and Chychrun?

Krebs or Sturm. This team is not a serious contender. It’s not impossible that they can make a run if Shesterkin gets his head out of his ass, but I would not be giving up any first or second round picks. Unless it was a first and Kakko for Zegras.

However, if you believe dipshit Brooks. Drury is a sad, desperate fuck to try and save his job so I fully expect him to piss away a first round pick and a prospect he shouldn't deal for a guy that won't make a difference. Only first rounder I'm giving up is for Zegras. That's pretty much it. This team is going to be old, real quick up front.

O’Reilly would be another good option if Nashville would retain 50%. If they retain 50% since he has about four years on his contract, I could see him being a perfect center for a Othmann and Cuylle and then eventually into a fourth line center roll and he’s always been clutch in the playoffs. I don’t think it would take much more than a Jones and Berard package. There’s no reason to give up a lot for him at 32.

I don't know who made the NHL trade deadline date up but they should have their balls cut off. It's way to late. Absolutely moronic.

Yeah, it's usually on the 1st Monday in March, I don't get that either.

Wonder if they will bring Zucc back for a playoff rental. The wild are going nowhere.

Seems obvious that Drury was all ready to piss away another first round draft pick on a guy that wouldn't win this team the cup. I think somebody got into Dolan's ear and starting telling him that Drury doesn't know what the fuck he is doing. I'm not buying the Sphere thing 100% any longer. I think it goes deeper than that.

I thought Berard not going pro last year was soft of him. However, he's impressed me this year. I would call him up. Not Othmann. Othmann has gotten almost all of his points on the PP. Berard not so much. I'd like to try him on the wing of Zibanejad and Kreider and see what happens.

Some moron said Rangers are interested in Laughton and they would want a first. One, no way in hell he is worth a first. Two, I seriously doubt the Rangers and Flyers would ever make a trade.

If it was even a question before, I would think the Wheeler injury would lock in us adding a top 6 RW at the trade DL, maybe a Vatrano or Tarasenko. I would also think a 3rd line C and 3rd pair dman for depth would be on the potential add list.

They may as well just do a Henrique/Vatrano package.

Wheeler done for the rest of the season. Chytil missed most of the season. Fox missed 10 games. Kakko missed 21 games. A lot of injuries this season, makes what the team has done so far even more impressive.

Realistically, the team needs a top 6 RW for sure, a 3rd line C just about for sure, and could use a solid 3rd pair dman. What will Drury do over the next 3 weeks, and which of these needs will he fill?

I find this trade DL (which is 3 weeks from today) fascinating because I am not sure the Rangers are really a big-time team, but they lead their division by 8 points, and are 5th in the entire NHL in overall points (and have won 6 straight). They also have decent cap space due to Chytil's injury (and a little more with Wheeler out now). I would guess Drury will be aggressive as they view this as a win now team, but who knows what he can get done to fill the holes.

Should be an interesting 3 weeks.

Can't really deal Kakko now I suppose as that would open up an extra hole, even before the Wheeler injury. I suspect they will end up giving in to trading the 1st, plus someone like Robertson.

They did the Lindros deal lol

It's curious that Drury gets so much crap when the Rangers didn't do shit for 6 years under Gorton. Drury's biggest mistake was getting away from what brought him success. Calling up Edstrom was a step in the right direction, replacing Brod with another big body from Hartford and signing a crease clearer would be a bonus.

Today in the Post was annual the Larry Dumbass Brooks article, the Rangers should piss away their first rounder and most of their prospects at the trade deadline to go for it. Fucking moron never learns.

Rangers should go for it!

but not a sniper

How many 1st picks pan out?

kakko and laffy , they playin like #1’s?

Rangers need a Tom Wilson , that’s all this team needs and the rest of team will absolutely play their best game

Bank on it
Go rangers

A lot of first and second round picks pan out if the dumbasses drafting know what they are doing. Cuylle second rounder. Miller first rounder. Othmann looks like he'll be arriving shortly. Perreault is leading college hockey in scoring as a freshman. Zibanejad was a first rounder of Ottawa. Lindgren second rounder. Trouba was a first rounder. Schneider was a first rounder. Lafreniere first rounder. Kakko a first rounder who finally looks to be turning a corner even without any PP time like Lafreniere. Kreider was a first rounder. Your point was moronic.

I do not follow game as much as you, don’t have the insight.

but, what I do know is there are
A lot more reasons why high picks don’t flourish.. could be the city they are in, teammates, coaches. Who knows, mostly cause they are kids

rangers window ain’t gonna stay open for long

Kreids needs to win now.

Drury needs to get a Wilson type player , I loved Vatrano, but we need a more physical type.

we have enough to win now imo, of course the hockey Gods play a big role.

lol , at steps post last nite , bout trouba, wtf is the pylon doin, other than a possible border line hit?

Go for it Drury

Do you actually want to win a SC, or just talk about how many points some kid has in college or juniors? I am not advocating trading the 1st round pick this year or not, I am advocating it should be on the table if the return is such that it clearly elevates the team. You cannot let a pick in the mid 20's at best hold you back from clearly improving the team when you are in 1st place, and top 5 overall in the NHL. Drury should not throw away the pick for whatever, but if he can get a package that is very good, you have to be open to improving and taking a shot this season.

We discuss this a lot, and one doesn't need to like how the process works, but it is what it is, and you have to be in it to win it. Odds are it won't work out as only one team can win the SC, but when the teams you are competing with all improve, and many deal their high picks, saying no way I won't do it is almost like punting on setting your team up for the best chance to win. Or don't trade your 1st (only if it clearly improves the team) and say forget this season and draft some kid in the 20's who odds are may be a 3rd or 4th liner at best in 4 years. Your call.

Morons think trading 1st round picks will win the cup. 1% chance it will work out. Pass. Unless you’re trading for a Messier, you don’t give up your picks. Or you’re loaded beyond belief like the Lightning were where they could give up first rounders for role players.

Florida is much better than the Rangers. No deadline trade will change that.

Translation - we have no shot anyway, so why waste time trying to improve. Keep the pick in the 20's, and we'll MAYBE have a bottom 6 forward in 4 years.

I think Brooks is spot-on with this:

There are different interpretations of what pushing the Rangers’ chips into the middle would mean. It does not mean making a trade equivalent to Tony Amonte for Stephane Matteau and Brian Noonan. It does not mean sacrificing Brennan Othmann. It certainly does not mean forfeiting the rights to Gabe Perreault. It does not mean trading Kaapo Kakko because, well, come on, did that ever make the slightest sense?

The Rangers have been at the top of the division every day since Oct. 24. They won six straight early, they have won eight straight now.

They are one of the league’s best teams. And they are playing well enough to justify the GM pushing his chips — not all, there’s got to be some left over for the ride home — into the middle of the table.

I also think he is targeting the correct needs:

The Rangers are in need of a right wing to skate with Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider. They could surely use an upgrade in the middle of the developing third line featuring Kakko and Will Cuylle on the flanks and Jonny Brodzinski at center. And they could use muscle on the left side of the third defense pair though the staff may be satisfied to stick with the offense-driving Erik Gustafsson. This all falls under the umbrella of becoming a tougher opponent.
