Trade Idea

Here is a trade that probely has a negative 50 percent chance at happining, but its fun talking about it. Lets say things dont work out and Carter says he will opt out after this year, the Nets would obviously look to trade him and get something for him. And lets just say with Amare's ego he dosnt like the way he is being involved in the team and wants out, do you think they would work out a deal involving Amare and Carter? Heres what I would think would happen:Suns Trade:Amare StodumireNets Trade:Vince CarterJosh Boone2007 1st round pickFuture 2nd round pickAgain this probley has no shot at happining at all but its fun to dream.

no they wouldn't nitro! are you kidding? they need the size, and they probably wouldn't give amare for any available player in the league. to say that they would trade him for vince carter is just ridiculous.

Everyone is saying that the Nets wouldnt do this, but I dont think that the Suns would do this. Vince just gives them another wing, in which they have a ton of. 2nd, they are trading a big for a small. The west is big and need Amare's big body if they seriously want to win a ring in the west. No way they get past SA and Dallas without Amare. 2nd, Vince's contract is expiring and they might not sign him back and there isnt a player thats a free agent that they would go for. 3rd, like I said before, Suns already have Raja Bell, Barbosa, Jalen Rose, and the two Jones's at the wing positions. Now none of them are Carter, but that just makes there signings of Rose and Jurmaine Jones irrelivent.

The thing is the Suns dont have a go to guy that they now will score mostly everytime they get the ball. I would not consider Barbosa a SG first of all, and the way the Suns play the more players they have who could come in and score the ball, the better. Tell me, if you coached the suns, and its the last play in the game, who you giving the ball to? Yeah you had to think about that one didnt you. Nash? maybe but wouldnt you want him to set up the play for another person? Marion? No plays are ever set up for him on offense. Bell? Barbosa? Now, same situation, but for the Lakers, or Rockets, or Pistons. You know who the ball is going to, they have a go to guy. With Carter, the Suns would know they have a reliable guy to go to when the team on offense is strugging.

Steve Nash is who I'd have shooting the ball. He is very clutch in my opinion. I do agree to an extent that they don't have a go to player if they are in need of a clutch shot that the end of the game. The thing is, sometimes Carter comes up short and disapears in big games. Thats where Joe Johnson would be perfect for them if they had kept him. Also, if I recall correctly, Raja Bell had some very clutch shots last year against the Clippers. Matter of fact, here's the video. Anyways, I dont buy the whole "the Suns need a whole lot of bodies since they run all the time." I think they actaully use less players than other teams. Last year they only had around 8 players that they played on a regular basis. Steve NashMarionDiawBarbosaBellHouseK. Thomas/T. ThomasJonesThis doesn't include Amare since he only played 3 games. They only had Kurt Thomas and Tim Thomas about half the season and they never played together. They all averaged 18 minutes. If I'm the Suns, I'd rather have Amare's big body against the Spurs and Mavs rather than Carter. Also, the way the Suns play, Amare has a advantage against most teams. Lets just put them against the Mavs. Who is going to be gaurding Amare most of the time? Dampier, Diop, and Mbenga. Advantage Amare on the offensive end. Who is he going to guard? Damp, Diop, and Mbenga. Not offensive threats by any means. The advantage is huge for him. Just look at his numbers in the playoffs 2 years ago. 29.9 PTS and 10.7 REB. If Vince is playing the Mavs, who is gaurding him? Josh Howard, Devean George, and Jerry Stackhouse. Players very capable of guarding him. Who does he guard? Howard, George and Stack. All three that will tire him out on the other end of the floor. With Vince, they just dont have a great mismatch. In the West, he'd haveAK-47, Bowen, Artest, Kobe, Quinton Ross(Clippers and very underated), and Howard guarding him. Players that can shut him down. Who does Amare exploit? Dampier, Kaman, Fransisco Elson, and Kwame Brown/Lamar Odom. The Suns have a great mismatch in thier hands. I just wouldnt do it if I was the Suns.

The game tonight with the spurs just proved my point more. They need a go to guy. Tonight they seemed lost at the end, nobody was shooting the ball. Even the ESPN people said that last year they were winless in game decided by 3 or less.

It'd be a stupid trade.
