FRED MEYER, TRAIL BLAZERS AND NBC SPORTS NORTHWEST HOST 11TH ANNUAL COAT DRIVE IN FRED MEYER STORES
Donations will be collected through December 23
PORTLAND, Ore. (November 19, 2020) – Fred Meyer, the Portland Trail Blazers and NBC Sports Northwest the official network of the Trail Blazers, have teamed up for the 11th year to collect new coat donations for kids and adults in Oregon and SW Washington. Starting November 20 through December 23, donation bins will be placed near the entrances of your local Fred Meyer store.
“We’re grateful to team up with Fred Meyer and NBC Sports Northwest for the annual coat drive,” said Chris McGowan, President & CEO of the Trail Blazers and Rose Quarter. “This event has made a big impact in its 11 years, having donated thousands of coats to kids and families in need, and we are committed to continuing to help our community going forward.”
Fred Meyer, the Trail Blazers and NBC Sports Northwest have committed to donate an initial 3,000 coats and Fred Meyer will match the community donations up to 4,000 additional coats. Coat donations will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland Metro and the Salvation Army. Due to COVID-19, the Coat Drive will only be accepting new coats.
“We recognize that there are many in need right now and we are excited to lead the way and help keep people warm during such a critical time,” stated Dennis Gibson, President of Fred Meyer Stores. “We want to be there to help provide support when our communities need us most.”
“We’re proud to partner with the Trail Blazers and Fred Meyer on this very special community initiative,” added Diane Penny, Senior Vice President/General Manager, NBC Sports Northwest. “The Portland community has always banded together to help out one another in times of need. The Trail Blazers and Fred Meyer continue to be leaders in fueling that spirit year-round.”
