By the way, JVG is known as more of a defensive minded coach and he would still make a better offensive coach.

I'd try to go after Van Gundy personally. While his offense is not the best I think he would definitely shape us up on the defensive side. I have complete faith he would not inexplicably have us in a zone when the other team is raining three pointers on us.

I'd also consider Avery Johnson but am not entirely sure if I'd want him. Of course he did get Dallas to the finals.

I think Avery might be the perfect coach for Greg, he played with some guys Greg must admire and I feel he could communicate with him. There is something about his personality that this team could use, and he has probably learned a lot from his Dallas Stint.

Sometimes, wins do accompany great individual performances. Jordan made a career of it. Last night, Melo scored 45 and his team won. Why can't Roy score big and have us win? One could say that Roy didn't score too much, he didn't score enough. Sometimes, your star has to step up and do what must be done to win the game. If he had a big 4th, we probably would've won.

They were denying Roy the ball, double teaming him right off. Under those conditions others have to step up. Roy had a lot of points, but if others don't step up to take off the pressure you can't expect him to do it completely alone.

you cant expect roy to carry us the whole 4th quarter too. he played the whole second half

btw-i guess i kind of like avery but he sure did fall fast in dallas

I don't mind Nate the person. I think he did a good job here when the team needed turned around in the community. I just don't think he'll ever be a title-capable coach and I think we all agree here: we want a title - hell we want multiple titles.

Maybe Nate needs to return to Sarge, and start yelling at everyone. Throw some chairs, break something or whatever. Get some emotion into the team.

I think Avery's downfall in Dallas was just a bunch of issues rising together really quick:

The collapse in the finals (aided greatly by the refs love for D-whistle).

Letting Don Nelson dictate the matchups in the playoffs in 2007 (this is my big fear with some coaches, including Nate: Letting the other coach dictate the matchup strengths. He never should have gone small just because Nelson did) which resulted in them losing that series (also didn't help that Dirk let himself get just defended unbelievably by Stephen Jackson).

After these two things and trading away Harris (who Avery wanted) for a future HOF point guard on the last leg of his career who has a mini rep for being a coach killer who complained about Avery being too strict it all just came crashing down. Then add in Cuban being your owner and being kinda crazy and flimsy it was BAM YOU ARE GONE IN A FLASH.

Like I said I'm not entirely sure I'd want him (because again I do not like coaches who let other coaches dictate matchups. Play to YOUR strengths and what has worked for you all year!), but I'd definitely like Van Gundy.

Van Gundy got a bad start in Houston because of Steve Francis and then could never get it working with TMac and Yao either (this could be due to various injuries and that Yao cannot reobund for the life of him in crunch situations in the damn playoffs and McGrady is cursed to the first round). I think he'd do a lot of good for our defense and like bodyman said, he'd probably even improve our offense.

I think he'd get a lot of respect from the locker room too just from his Knicks days with Ewing and company.

Who said that Avery wanted Devin Harris? When I was at the game in Dallas last season, it was the day the first trade fell through because of Devean George and a few fans near me, who were excited at the prospect of getting Kidd, told me that Avery Johnson hated Devin Harris.

You won't be able to pry Thibodeau from Boston though.

I know it would be tough, and I don't know his contract and how you would go about it but Paul Allen has tons of cash to spread away. I don't think that Rivers is going to go anywhere in the near future and TT might want his shot????

the loss to the Magic and this loss can be summed up with one stat: 6-27 from 3pt range. thats 22%

paul allen said he will spend money to win championships. money solves everything. we could get him if we wanted.

but i still have some faith in nate

Those were extremely good three point shooters taking those shots. They just didn't fall tonight. When we won in Utah last season, they fell.

I couldn't find Tom's contract situation, but did find one website somewhere that mentioned that he might not have a contract for next year. I am going to pretend that we are going to sign him after the Celtics win the title this year and all will be cool with me from now on. :pimp:

i hate mart harpring.

btw am i the only one that thought the flagrant foul was bogus?

I don't think you can blame the refs for that, real time it looked pretty bad. I thought Channing was pretty aggressive throughout the game though, at least he recognizes his weakness and tries to improve on it.

I too hate Matt Harpring, although I'd love him if he was a Blazer. I think you could say that for most of the Jazz team, which is a credit to them.

Yeah, you are right. I think that flagrant foul calls should be something they can use instant replay for. The head on camera shots showed that it wasn't a flagrant IMO.

Harpring's reaction to it moreso got the flagrant since Channing tried helping him up, but Harpring reacted like someone shot him. It was bogus, and I thought Channing tried a little bit more to be aggressive on the defensive end. He just didn't enough burn.

Webster wouldn't make a huge difference anyway. We have a collection of mediocre threes. I think Batum will be good in a few years but he's just not ready right now. Btw, Webster is out another 4-6 weeks.

That Oden pic shows he has pretty good hops even now dead tired out of shape and one year from MF.

Good.

That goal tending call on Oden was bs. I don' t know if they showed it again on TNT, but they did on KGW and Oden hit the ball before it hit the backboard.
