Not that they're very reputable, but NBADraft.net has us getting Troy Brown. You Oregon people - is he good? He sounds like my kind of player - PG skills in a SF body but apparently he can't shoot? Can he play defense? Would you be happy if he fell to us?

TB could be, the steal of the draft as he's built for NBA stardom.
Blazers will trade up to get him.

I don't remember him performing PG duties at all with Oregon. He's OK at rebounds and assists and steals. I just didn't see anything really intriguing about him.

Yup, he's built for stardom because he went to Oregon! Lol..

lol.....thats true!
However, he could have gone just about anywhere he wanted.
Ive seen him a few times and you can just tell he has that BBIQ and Instinct.

Oregon fans always love their guys. I read a 2015 dressy thread where apparently, Joe Young was the next Damian Lillard.

People looking at Troy Brown as a prospect saying "he won't be good because he didn't score at Oregon", to me, are looking at all the wrong things.

Brown has a LOT of qualities that you can't coach - length, court vision, great handle (okay you can probably coach that one, but his handles are rare for a wing). But to me, the thing that was most intriguing about him was the way he responded in games where he wasn't scoring well. A lot of kids coming out of the AAU circuit would jack up 40 shots to get their #s or pout... Brown focused on the little things -- he got aggressive on the glass, doubled down on his defensive intensity, looked to get his teammates open shots -- that's veteran stuff from a much-hyped (but at least mildly disappointing) 19 year old kid.

I don't know if he'll ever live up to his 5* pedigree, but he's certainly athletic enough for the scoring to come. He's far from a finished product, but I don't think it's outlandish to say that he, probably as much as anyone else that would left when we're picking, has the highest potential to be a star/quality starter in this league.

We could certainly do a lot worse...

I'd probably rather have Jordan Bell than Biggie... :dunno:
Honestly Bell was the only Oregon guy I remember that I really wanted on the Blazers. Thought and still think he can be a really good defender in the NBA, not sure he’s got the offense needed for most teams though.

For an 8th-man, you want more?

I see what you're saying, though...

I mean, when you’re drafting in the 20s... go with guys you know can play at least one side of the floor very well. Biggie had good numbers but he doesn’t exactly have an nba body or modern skillset. Bell is basically all defense and a lob catcher, which is valuable in today’s nba.

Cleveland and Houston were leaving him wide open like 10 feet away from the basket and he didn’t even have the confidence to put it up. That works on the warriors, and maybe he doesn’t have the green light to shoot those. Not sure if that works in a lot of places though.

Yeah you said that last year yet most Oregon fans underestimated that whole group, and I don't see the majority jumping on the Brown band wagon this year either.

Troy Brown does not have point guard skills and he has not proven he can shoot yet. But then again Dillon Brooks was limited as a shooter his first year in college too. Brown left too early to effectively evaluate his NBA potential. He is a gamble, but he certainly has potential because he has a great feel for the game and does a little of everything. I would not take him at 24, but depending how much that jump shot improves he could be a starter down the road.

yep...and no one said his strength would be on the O side. But they never said about Ben Wallace either. I think its much easier to develop a good defender as a shooter than the O guy to D.

besides with his rebounding and can get enough put backs.

When I see Troy Brown, I see Evan Turner. Just saying.
A small forward with good ball handling skills, playmaking ability, decent but not great athleticism and complete lack of shot. Yeah I see the resemblance.
