That standoff only happened because they were white. The government would have never been that patient with armed militants of any other ethnicity.

If you are white, you can take over government property with an armed militia and get pardoned. If you are black, you will get shot in the back if you are unarmed and run from a cop.

I still fail to understand how anyone can not see it for what it is.

By the way.....I'm for pardoning anyone who gets sentenced and then has that sentence extended by appeal. What the fuck is that?

Anyone of any color gets a year sentence and then the prosecution wins an appeal and they change it to five years.....I don't even care if they did start the fire on federal lands on purpose.

That's some bullshit.

What are the kneeling men protesting? What is it they should reap? Why do they deserve it?

I just disrespected the flag (I don't feel the men are disrespecting the flag) in a worse way than he feels they are. MFs will fight for racist words to be labeled free speech but say something about how fucked up this country is and what? What do I deserve to reap? A police murdering?

Hard for me to care about the ranchers or the players. Neither one hurts me in any way.

I’m all for equality, and I admittedly do my best to not watch the news but these type of statements always throw me a bit. I’ve seen a lot people really pissed off and upset about the ranchers standoff stuff (so no the country isn’t ok with what they did), even if Trump pardoned them. I’ve also heard a ton of support for the players in the kneeling stuff, so the country hasn’t lost its collective mind over it either.
I feel like this is a statement driving two unrelated things together adding a lot of hyperbole in, just to make a point. The point is valid to a large extent but unfortunately we’re playing into exactly what our politicians want. They thrive when we separate and take sides against each other. They thrive when one side says hey those black guys can’t kneel it disrespects our flag! They thrive when we say you only got what you have because you’re white. The politicians they love all this.
I did a lot of reading on the stupid papa johns stuff this afternoon and it really struck me the statement they made about how proud they are of their diversity and inclusiveness. It starts with me and I understand that, but don’t we all want it for our kids where the society accepts them, respects them, treats them fairly not because it gives them political buzzwords about how accepting they are, but because it’s the right way to act? It’s so weird to me that we’re “proud” now when we aren’t douches to other human beings.
I have said before I don’t really have an issue with the kneeling. The ranchers should not of gotten pardoned.
I guess this type of thing leaves a little bit of a sour taste in my mouth just because it’s just another thing to drive that wedge in between people. You’ll have the normal groups that one side cheers and says how right it is and the other side saying how wrong and stupid it is.
I should know better than to post in the off topic thread way past my normal bed time.
Anyways sorry for my rant. I have no problem with people pointing out these things and calling it like they see it.
 
Wait, weren't they found not guilty anyways...why the need for a pardon?

Imagine getting sentenced in court to a year for something and then later they change the sentence to 5.

I don't care who it is, that's fucked up.
 
Oh right Bundy and co got off after using an armed private militia to have a standoff with police. They were found not gulity in a court of law. Ok. The Hammonds were found guilty of Arson on federal land carrying the minimum sentence of 5 years. The Judge tried to supercede the law with his ruling and was called out on it. If the law says 5 years and they are found guilty, they must serve 5 years.

The Ranchers should have just went to the closest city center and started setting other people's businesses ablaze. That's the ethical way to make a stand apparently.

I am a liberal. I don't agree with dumbshits in masks torching newspaper bins, breaking windows, etc in the name of protest. I don't defend such people. Neither should you defend arsonists and terrorists.

The meme implied Americans defend "domestic terrorism" while simultaneously being appalled at football player for kneeling. It was an over-generalization and just overall race baiting bullshit. I was comparing two different methods of protest, not condoning them.
