Trump supporters, what would he have to say before you would not vote for him?

I am curious what sort of comment would convince you that he is unworthy of the office.

The two candidates are basically interviewing for the job over a very extended time frame, right? The things that Trump says would make me feel uncomfortable hiring him at Walmart let alone a job as critical as the president.

After his series of self-inflicted wounds lately I have become curious as to how supporters see these gaffes which would have doomed any candidate of the past.

Is it just Hillary hate or does he really impress you as a candidate? What would it take to finally give up on him? I am desperately trying to understand.

Thanks, guys.

It seems that the vast majority of his appeal is his departure from the establishment, so that to which you refer as "self-inflicted wounds" or "gaffes", Trump supporters see as further evidence of his superiority to other candidates, because they further illustrate his separation from politics as usual.

I suspect that in order to lose support from his most ardent followers, he would have to disavow the aspects of his campaign that have appealed to the majority of his followers (immigration control, disdain of special interests, irrational nationalism).

This pretty much hits the nail on the head for me.

I appreciate his "I give no fucks" attitude. THAT is refreshing in an America where everyone is being 'pussified' with all the PC and SJW bullshit. I want a strong commander in chief, someone to flex American muscle and not take shit. This country needs a damn leader and not a punching bag figurehead.

We also need to get rid of the political 'norm' that has festered for decades in the Oval Office and have done nothing to propel this country other than to further divide its people. The political norm that would rather give money to terrorist nations to support their pockets than invest money into the nation they are governing.

I am also curious. I see what Platypus is saying. But in a job interview you don't just say whatever pops into your head. And a president should not say whatever pops into his/her head. A president should not repeat vicious unfounded rumors prefaced with "some people are saying..." A president should not throw temper tantrums and insist on having the last word like an overgrown 4-year-old. A president should not insult and insult and insult and then say "oh, just kidding". That is schoolyard behavior. A president should not say things that are unquestionably factually untrue and insist they are. Not spin, flat out provably false. Crazily, or maybe not so, nearly half of Trump supporters now claim they have seen the "video" of money being unloaded in Iran, a video that does not exist.

He may be entertaining but entertainment is not presidential. Otherwise we'd vote for Kim Kardashian.

Why does he have to conform to your idea of what a President should do? What makes what you say "Presidential" or becoming of a President?

Just curious honestly.

Hiliar is so crooked we have no idea what new scandals are going to arise between now and the election. Yesterday and today, new emails have come out that expose what looks like a pay for play (quid pro quo) involving a big time (crooked) Clinton Foundation donor.

Terrorist attacks would also hurt her chances. I wouldn't hope for those.

I think there's potentially a huge October Surprise against her. WikiLeaks or something like that.

There are also the debates. Trump basically ran away with the republican nomination debating against a slew of governors and legislators with superior chops. It seems that the more people see of him, the more popular he gets. He got plenty of airplay during the primaries - the news channels would show him speaking at his events, for a considerable amount of time. Lately, they're taking statements he's made out of context and blowing them out of proportion and not giving him the chance to be heard. They're not going to be able to prevent him from being heard during the debates.

Meanwhile, Gary Johnson is moving up in the polls. 9% last one I saw.

I appreciate it as well. What I don't appreciate is that not only does he not take shit, but he shits on people wherever he goes. Listen to this interview:

"The Making of Donald Trump": David Cay Johnston on Trump's Ties to the Mob & Drug Traffickers

It seems to me that there are a whole lot of people out there that feel the same way that you do. The problem, as I see it, is that I think Trump is just kind of like a meme for expressing pissed-off-ness. Illegal immigrants? Trot out Trump saying any one of a thousand different things on the topic and the pissed-off-ness has been stated. Never mind that he has absolutely no idea about how to handle the deportation of 11-12 million people, the costs associated with it (both economic and social), whether building a wall is a practical solution or would be effective, whether he could actually get anything through Congress on the subject, etc., etc., etc. Same thing on a hundred other topics. It's hard work figuring out rational public policy, selling it to Congress and the American people, and handling the millions of details associated with it. The Donald doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who can do any of that. He's just a blowhard meme for pissed-off-ness.

Just my humble opinion, of course.

He's the real life embodiment of the caricature of "get off my lawn" guy.

GEE, A POLITICIAN WHO DOESN'T KEEP HIS POLITICAL PROMISES, WHAT A SCUM

GEE, A POLITICIAN WHO DOESN'T KEEP HIS POLITICAL PROMISES, WHAT A SCUM

I'm not dinging him for not keeping political promises. I'm dinging him for not having a clue. So far, other than one canned talk on the economy, all we've heard is: "You either have a country or you don't." "We're not winning." "Our leaders are stupid." "We don't make good deals." Those aren't policy statements. They're just jerking off your base so they'll keep loving you.

I don't know what you all are bitching about! He hasn't said anything to piss me off. Maybe a cringe or two but no big deal.

But Holy hell, did you see the dad of the mass murderer of Orlando, Mateen sitting front and center in Hillary's rally?
What the fuck message was that supposes to be? Vote for me, I love Muslims no matter what?

Now if Trump sent that message, I am done.

He released an economic plan 2 days ago.

No, not at all. In fact, they've denounced his presence. He was uninvited.

Plenty of reasons not to vote for Hilary, but that's not one of them.

Right! One meeting it's black and brown up front, the next is willy nilly.

He's already said he will keep his wars short and intense, so for me to not vote for Trump, he'd have to switch to the Bush-Obama-Hillary strategy of eternal war. He would make Putin his ally instead of encircling Russia with enemy states, which would go a long way toward the U.S. not creating more needless wars. It remains to be seen whether he would resist Israel's war commands. His domestic agenda wouldn't get anywhere, so it's no problem.

As I posted here a long time ago, warmonger Clinton led the CIA, which is under the State Dept., and let them have their way, so they are comfortable with her. They control the mainstream media, which steers the presidential election every time. Clinton will give the world a lot more war, torture, and oppression than Trump would.

Thanks a bunch for the civil replies. I was hoping for more answers to my specific question, but I read between the lines that there is nothing he could actually say, such as "Russia is a better country than the USA" or "when I get my hands on our nuclear arsenal you can bet I will use the threat of using them" or "I dont care about foreigners, they can all go die in a fire".

Basically you think he can say anything that he wants to and you will give him a pass because you dislike the other side so much?

Anyway, the discussion and comments were informative for me and varied. Too many to respond to right now.

Thanks again for the civil discourse.

That's not entirely accurate. It has nothing to do with disliking the other side for me. It's about getting rid of the current shit stained routine that has been going on the last countless decades. I do not like the liberal politically correct bullshit going on, and the social justice warrior shit either so I side with him on that when he calls it like it is. Is he callous? Yep. Is he a dick, Yep. Does he lack tact? Yep. Do I give a fuck? No, because I am not someone who gets offended, and gets all uppity about it. Like I said we need a strong leader who will stand up to the bullshit.

I also side more with Republican issues than Democratic issues.... so honestly it has nothing about me disliking Hillary or the other side.

But Holy hell, did you see the disgraced congressman, Mark Foley sitting front and center in Trump's rally?

What the fuck message was that supposes to be? Vote for me, I love pedophiles no matter what?

Are you done with Trump now?

Just asking.
