Nah. I've met Maris. Sarah comes off like a useless puppet that tells only lies. Maris is a gentleman, with a very kind wife. Never compare him with Sanders.

Never met him and likely never will. I only judge on what he posts and it's basically a Sarah Sanders puppet like commentary. The proof is in the reading of his posts.

I use to think that way. However, now I try to separate the post from the poster. I think it was mags that did the trick. mags is a great guy with some controversial ideas. mags' mom is one the nicest ladies I and my wife have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I've got a feeling Maris and his family is in that sort of group of likeable people with odd ideas.

Fair is fair, maris probably thinks we have odd ideas but hopefully thinks we are just as nice.

Edit: Now I've got to grit my teeth and walk the walk and not just talk the talk. Hope I don't slip too often.

This has nothing to do with nice has nothing to do with a posters mom or wife. It is simply based on a posters views that I have read on here and his posts come across very similar to what we hear from Sanders.

This is what I'm referring to -
"I think maris is actually Sarah Sanders, in other words, a Trump puppet."
This is a remark about the poster and not his post.
You are going to dispute it so I'm going to drop it.

Oh come on lanny. It was very obvious that was sarcasm. Let's not make this into something it isn't. maris does puppet the trump speak. Just like Sanders does.

The party of no taxes are now paying a voluntary tax.
A) The Party of No Taxes is Libertarian. "Old-School" republicans like my dad and grandfathers would've said "limited government, paid by small taxes." I have no idea WTF the Republican platform is today, though it seems the Tea Party is more up that alley.
B) Voluntary donations are one of the principles they live by. I don't go as far as some do, but I "voluntarily donate" to my church every month. I would not be a fan of a tithe to the party of the President's committee. I am not a fan of income or estate tax. I don't mind consumption taxes, though I think they're regressive as hell. But w/e.

This is how I feel about most everyone here.

I'm not a complete sociopath but on a scale from 1 to 10 my emotion is a 3 and you guys are like Spinal Tap.

How is any of this a win? You talk above calling the dems impotent for being wrong about votes in the house. Yet, Trump told us all thousands of times that Mexico was going to pay for the wall. They haven't. They won't. So now you are celebrating the idea that corporations could help pay for it. American companies are not Mexico, last I checked. Also, having companies spend money on a needless wall during a downturn in the economy spells a possible disaster. Expecting wealthy companies to bail out Trum's ego is a fail, and could be considered a "tax" by proxy.

Continue to celebrate Trump's impotence, if that is the sort of thing you are into.

Mexico is already paying a portion of our border security under new agreements where they bear the cost of the Soros caravaners while they are waiting in Mexico to legally enter, something they did not do for Obama. They are also spending $ on tightening their own southern border, the main source of the Soros caravans. They have signed new trade agreements which restore our fair treatment that NAFTA gave away, which will result in profits to Americans and our overall economy in the hundreds of billions over time. Some of this $ from Mexico will be spent building the wall. Some of it will be spent getting Trump and other non-libs elected in 2020 to keep our economy strong, and to ensure the continued building of the wall.

= Mexico pays for the wall.

Just throwing another factoid out there...for the first time in the last decade, a "government shutdown" doesn't affect DoD/VA.

Congress already passed bills funding the Departments of Defense, Energy, Labor, Health and Human Services, and Veterans Affairs — as well as the legislative branch — through Sept. 30, 2019. Trump signed those appropriations into law, so these departments should not be affected. In addition, the U.S. Postal Service will function as normal, as it gets almost all of its funding from sales of postage and other services.

The Department of Defense is already funded for this fiscal year and is not affected by the potential government shutdown. DoD employees will report to work as normal.

We have different definitions of the term "win". That's ok. You do you, and I'll do me. I am curious if you know the history of how and when Soros became the boogey many though. Interesting story........

Nancy Pelosi is vacationing at Hawaii resort during shutdown

House Speaker-to-be Nancy Pelosi vacations in Hawaii amid partial government shutdown

As the government's partial shutdown drags on, Nancy Pelosi was spotted five time zones away from the House in Hawaii; Peter Doocy reports from Capitol Hill.

House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi is spending the holidays vacationing in Hawaii, as a partial government shutdown grinds on with no resolution in sight.

Fox News has confirmed that Pelosi, the House speaker-designate, is vacationing in Kona, Hawaii, and was seen there Thursday as well as Friday morning. Pelosi’s office on Friday did not return requests for comment about her whereabouts.

Video
Earlier Friday, The Washington Free-Beacon first reported that Pelosi was spotted at the Fairmont Orchid resort. According to that resort’s website, guests “are treated to luxury resort amenities featuring our Spa Without Walls, a 10,000 sq.ft. oceanfront swimming pool and 24-hour fitness center.”

Pelosi is poised to become speaker of the House again after Democrats officially retake the majority of the House next week.

Because of the partial government shutdown – which went into effect a week ago – President Trump canceled plans to spend Christmas in Florida, and stayed at the White House. White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney said on "Fox & Friends" that Trump is also nixing his plans for New Year’s because of the shutdown.

"He canceled his plans for Christmas, now he's canceled his plans for New Year's," Mulvaney said. "The president is very heavily engaged in this."

Meanwhile, Trump warned Friday that if Democrats do not agree to his demands to fund a wall on the southern border, he will “close the Southern border entirely” and cut aid to Central American countries -- while pulling back on trade with Mexico.

“We will be forced to close the Southern Border entirely if the Obstructionist Democrats do not give us the money to finish the Wall & also change the ridiculous immigration laws that our Country is saddled with,” he tweeted Friday morning. “Hard to believe there was a Congress & President who would approve!”

Congress is on vacation. Talk to McConnell he's the one that sent the Senators home.

Mexico pays for the Wall? Whew, glad that's settled.

Canada has about 15% of the US population with a vast territory and they need people, there should be a program to help some of these asylum seekers find a path to Canada to live.

Canada already accepts a lot more people per capita than us. While resettling those people they have to pay for some benefits. Those benefits aren't free so why should they accept a vastly greater number than us?

Canada is really big if you can live on an iceberg or the Canadian Tundra...relocated Hondurans might have some trouble adapting eh? Places even the locals wouldn't live in.

Per capita is meaningless in this instance, a misleading statistic. Households don't take in immigrants so claiming a "per household" statistic is just ridiculous. Its like saying the US has more turtles per capita. Its not a statistic in which per capita has any bearing. The United states takes in more immigrants than anyone, period. Millions more. In fact, I would argue our larger population makes it more of a burden on us than it does Canada.

I covered Western Canada for 30 years and was able to witness the large influx of Chinese from Hong Kong into BC. The Canadian Government promoted the relocation form China with a requirement in order to gain residency they had to have several hundred thousand dollars that would be invested into a business. Chinese families would purchase beautiful home and tear them down to build multi family dwellings.
You are correct in that the Canadian Government rather have immigrants that can pay there way versus large influxes that cannot because of the cost.
The USA takes in more immigrants as a whole and we are very generous as a Nation as compared to others.

What's IMPORTANT is how much crime do native Canadians commit?

If their crime rates are higher than illegal immigrant crime would be then they HAVE to take them and not bitch when one of them kills someone.

YOU OBVIOUSLY NEVER TOOK ANY ACCOUNTING CLASSES AS YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF ACCOUNTING PROCEDURES IS VERY ELEMENTARY.

If that is the case why is Trump trying to get the congress to pay for it? If the United States sees any money from the new trade agreement it will take a long drawn out period of time to see it. It is not like we sign the deal and immediately make 5+billion to pay for the wall. You obviously don't get how economics work.

Also, it would be illegal to use any of that money to finance elections. It is not Trumps money to do what he pleases or to pass down to other candidates.

What an incredibly stupid thing to dig your heels in about.

It's not meaningless when the population is being asked to foot the bill for the resettlement of all those people. Now, if someone would come up with this clever plan to get Mexico to pay for that resettlement without asking the Canadian government to pay for it and then wave their magic wand and get Mexico to pay them back, well, that would be a horse of a different color assuming I believed in magic wands.
