SEC lawsuit

In 2003, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission brought a claim against Stansberry for a "scheme to defraud public investors by disseminating false information in several Internet newsletters."[1][20] The SEC alleged that Stansberry had sent out a newsletter to subscribers, predicting one company's stock was about to soar. Stansberry maintains that his information came from a company executive; the SEC claimed that he fabricated the source.[1] The company's stock price did increase for the reasons Stansberry had pinpointed, but about a month later than Stansberry had predicted.[1] In 2007, he and his investment firm, then called "Pirate Investor," were ordered by a U.S. District Court to pay $1.5 million in restitution and civil penalties. The court rejected Stansberry’s argument that his speech was protected by the 1st Amendment, stating "Stansberry's conduct undoubtedly involved deliberate fraud, making statements that he knew to be false."[21] Stansberry sought to shed light on the controversy in a 2010 self-authored, third party blog piece entitled "Why The SEC Sued Me-And Why You Should Care."[

I'm mostly interested (concerned?) about what he's relating about the U.S. Dollar potentially losing its place/status as the world's reserve currency.

I see where he's going....invest in gold.

Hmmm.....I'm not so sure.

I wouldn't trust anyone who uses this style of commercial. It just keeps going on and on without telling you anything, trying ratchet up your paranoia bit by bit. It's simply an infomercial designed to manipulate people who are prone to believe conspiracy theories and doomsday scenarios. It'll be alright ABM.

I hear ya. That's exactly what appears to be going on. This has been playing for nearly an hour.....

That is such a good deal you should order two of them.

What he said about the dollar losing its status as the world's reserve currency does appear to make a lot of sense, though. Seemingly, plenty of research to back that statement up, as well.

I'll consider the thought of moving some of my assets into gold and/or silver. I'll talk to my financial advisor about it and see what shakes out.

Go see Jonathan at Columbia Coin on SE Hawthorne. I'm been buying silver and gold from him since I was 12yrs old. (True story, they used to be in downtown Portland on the ground floor of the office building my dad used to work in. My parents used to buy silver and gold from Jonathan and his parents. I bought a couple of oz's of silver with golf caddying money I earned. Been buying ever since.)

I collect quarters from every state. Anyone want to give me some?

As a general rule I tend to discount someone who has some hot hot hot news that somehow every "legitimate" news outlet is ignorant of. I do know that sometimes, in fact often, mainstream and especially beltway media focus on trivialities and entertainment over serious issues (vastly more people can name the Kardashians than the Cuban 5) but something that would destroy a presidency is news if true.

So why isn't it reported except in the infomercial of some joker with no special sources?

I vote bunk.

a conspiracy theory about conspiracy theorists is that the people selling this gold are part of the cabal hastening the demise of the dollar in the first place

basically, dont do anything someone wants you to do, it will likely help them more than it helps you

invest in antibiotics and bullets, when the economy collapses people will trade you their first born for a way to cure their toothache

Well let's see. The first dollar I earned is now worth about 6 cents and it looks like that is headed south since I can't redeem it in silver any more.
Obama says we have no inflation so now we hardly ever get a cost of living increase on SS payments. My wife doesn't agree though, every time she comes
back from the grocery store.

The Fed has a new plan in action these days and I don't know who the hell approved it?

Thank you to all those who sent me quarters. There is one holdout, and if it's you, there is still time, but hurry. Plus, if you're one of the next 50 donors, there's a free set of gin-su steak knives in it for you.

This guy committed suicide in 2011.

I didn't watch it, but if you're worried about the USD not being the world's currency benchmark, you're right. It's the downside of recklessly printing money. Then the debt markets will control our spending instead of Congress, the Executive and the Fed.

Thank You (maxie, again, the voice of reason in the wilderness.)

That said, is gold and/or silver the answer as where to invest the lion's share of hundreds of thousands of said dollars (i.e. IRA)?

I'm not Maxiep but I'm not sure of you want to early withdrawal on the IRA. Every payday just go to Columbia Coin and buy a 1/10th oz gold coin and one or two oz silver coins. It adds up quickly and you really won't miss the money.

Nah, I was simply talking about diverting said percentage of the IRA into a gold fund. No early withdrawal.

Still, if you're wanting to buy gold and silver based on what you saw on that video then you want some of the gold and silver physically in your possession.

Probably.
