The Tsuruya Open is a golf tournament on the Japan Golf Tour. It has been played annually since 1994. The tournament's to-par record is -17 (271) set by Katsumasa Miyamoto in 1998. The aggregate record is 268 (-16) set by Brendan Jones in 2007. The course measures 6,770 yards and the par is 71. In 2009, the purse was scheduled to be ￥120,000,000 with ￥24,000,000 going to the winner. However, the tournament was shortened to 54 holes and the purse was reduced by 25%.

Jones seeks fourth Tsuruya Open title

Canberra’s Brendan Jones seeks his fourth Tsuruya Open title when the event tees off in Yamanohara to the west of Osaka this week.

Jones, a winner of eight events and ￥567,456,906 ($A6.5 million) on the Japan Golf Tour since first joining that tour in 2001, won this event in 2004, 2006 and 2007 in addition to several other good finishes in the tournament. After a reasonable start to the Japan Golf Tour season last week in Nagoya, Jones is on track for another good week at the Yamanohara Golf Club.

Ryo Ishikawa climbed into a three-way tie for second by matching the day's best score with a 5-under 66 in the second round of the Tsuruya Open on Saturday.

Fujita wins, Jones 4th at Tsuruya Open

40-year-old Hiroyuki Fujita has won the second event of the 2010 Japan Golf Tour season when defeating Toru Taniguchi in a playoff to win the Tsuruya Open near Osaka today.

Taniguchi put together a superb final round of 63 to nearly snatch victory from Fujita who lead by four heading into the third and final round at the Yamanohara Golf Club. The opening round had been abandoned due to heavy rain and the event was reduced to 54 holes.
