The official unemployment rate is 9.1%. Add to it those who are unemployed and given up looking ans those who are underemployed- that rate is 15.8%. That makes our unemployment/underemployment rate 24.9%. Fully 1/4 of Americans are either without work or working at less then they need.

This is closer to a depression that a recession- at least morally speaking.

We need new leadership and a government with the guts to make some necessary radical changes.

Only 25% . . . I would have thought if you polled people asking them if they are working at less than they need, 75% would say yes.

Google "underemployed."

It is quite a problem and speaks to the true state of the economy.

I also might add that the 15.8% I mentioned above is not all underemployed. Some of those are also unemployed but not seeking employment for a variety of reasons, but they are able to work.

90% people hate their fucking job!

I want to work 60 hours a week @ $250 an hour. I be underemployed!

how do thy factor in those who are unemployed and have given up looking? Am just curious as someone who is unemployed and not looking, am I included in that 15%, or does it only include people who accepted unemployment at one time, which I did not, since I quit my job.

The govt. surveys 60,000 households per month.
